The "Haye is to small and not a natural HW" excuse that is starting to gather pace

The latest excuse is that Haye has a broken hand which is why he quit sparring so early and why he didn't hit the mitts with Booth in the public workout. He is going to go in, fall over, collect his $$$, and leave in a hurry.

He might use that as an excuse after the fight but going in he's talking of being in the best shape of his life!

Re this thread. Hayes size ISNT and issue here. Haye is as big as Ali was in his peak yrs...Tyson...Holyfield etc. And he hits easily hard enough to KO Wlad. Just its a matter of if his skills are as good as he hopes. If his speed is sufficient to get in there unload and get out. And thats the big if that will be answered later on tonight. Cant wait. All I hope is that this fight is a good un and lives up to at least some of its hype. Hayes talked it the big un...but now its time to put up or shut up. We'll soon find out!

Either Haye is a madman/dreamer...or he really has got Wlads kryptonite. Few more hours and we'll all know for sure as it will be history.

Just please no early blowout loss for Haye..that will be SO DISAPOINTING.

 

No matter how you slice it size matters, thats why in most other divisions theres between a 4 to 7 pound seperation between weights, David Haye vs Wlad is the equivilant of someone like victor ortiz fighting someone like Chad Dawson as far as weight goes, hell even victor vs andre ward, could victor beat some of the scrubs at super middle or light heavy...

Im sure he could but against an elite fighter I highly doubt it, but in any event these are the rules Haye knows what he's getting into so he's willing to take the risk and thus there should be no excuses...

 

I agree with you Manning. The excuses are already rolling in. They could at least wait until the fight is over.

Everyone is looking over the fact that there were no 6'7 -6'8 240-250lb super-heavy's in ali's era, so that comparison to haye is irrelavant, however a 5'10 Mike Tyson destroyed fighters who were up to 6'5, albeit neither of those fighters were elite and none of them will be a HOF hell none of them will even be know for being elite, that says alot...

Even when Mike fought lennox he said himself Lewis was too big & too strong, even in Tyson prime his only way to win against Lennox would be by ko, a punchers chance, Lewis out-boxes Tyson 9 times outta ten imo...

Honestly the only "small" heavy to beat an exceptional "big" heavy was Holyfield vs Bowe, hell beside the klits only two exceptional fighters 6'4 or taller and 240+ were Bowe & Lewis, I imagine if there were more elite fighters of this size there would be a super heavyweight division...

 

There is some serious cognitive dissonance going on with some Haye fans. Contradicting themselves left, right and centre.

 

Because that is going to be their excuse when Haye pulls a Valuev and ruins the fight. Heavyweight History is littered with much smaller fighters destroying bigger fighters and not running. This "smaller man" stuff is a bunch of BS.

 

George Foreman was a natural heavyweight, he did not bodybuild or take steroids like haye has to get to his fighting weight. Foreman was 217 at 20 years old with 0 weight training.

That being said Wlad KO's haye inside of 3 rounds.

 

Haye is a CW. He will get smashed to pieces.

 

I completely expect Haye's startegy will be to RUN FOR HIS LIFE for 12 rnds, lose a decision and then claim he was robbed in Germany. What I'm betting will happen is Wlad easily cuts off the ring and destroys Haye. Only a few hours away will shall see :good

 

There have been some other big heavyweights about Wladimir's size beaten by smaller heavyweights. Carnera and Willard were both dominant for big men in their time and beaten by Baer and Dempsey both who are smaller then Haye.

The truth is that the reason there are so few good heavyweights Wladimir's size over the years is because they just are not good enough to compete at the elite level. Even Wladimir and Lewis would not have been as dominant if not for Emanual Steward imo.

 

No the size issue is all mental. Yes we have divisions, but that shouldnt suggest automatically the bigger heavier fighter will be superior because that myths been debunked countless times. We'll know if Wlad really is a great big man vs Haye, well at least a modern day great, because I dont think Haye is that great of a fighter either. Wlad has improved through the yrs, but I still think he does bad with awkward, big punchers. Haye fits that bill. I still question Wlads balance and stamina.

 

The problem with this argument is that you're basically saying that Lewis and the Klitschkos are the greatest heavyweights of all time.
