I thought it was pretty obvious what that was about. Was it not obvious? Wlad likes to lean on his opponents to tire them out, so every time he tried it on Haye he simply dropped to his knees and didn't allow Wlad to put any weight on him at all. His choice was to allow Wlad to lean on him and tire him out, or not. I imagine that's what they were reffering to when they said 'we have something up our sleeve if he tries to lean'.
Smart strategy but at times it looked a little too obvious, Wlad didn't even touch him and Haye threw himself to the floor. I think both times (point deduction for Wlad, counting for Haye) were good work by the ref. Wlad stopped pushing but Haye's floor kissing had to be reigned in.
A lot of the time Haye was tired and off balance when he would go down. I didn't even think Wladimir was leaning on him that much (apart from the last round). He was unfortunate to have been deducted a point, as I don't believe it was his fault that Haye kept stumbling to the floor from tired legs and poor footwork.
I agree that it is actually a smart way to avoid Wlad's leaning, as that is certainly draining. However, in this fight Haye didn't just do it when Wlad leant on him, he also threw himself to the canvass when Wlad would just slightly push down on the back of his head with his glove. This looked ridiculous. Also, as Haye was tiring towards the end of the fight he was going down more and more often when Wlad was only slightly leaning.
It's a smart strategy to fall on the ground on purpose eight times when you're being leaned on, yet people want a tough, scary heavyweight champion like Tyson with an attitude and a repertoire of ****-talk at his disposal to liven up the division, right? Aren't shameful tactics that make the fighter look like a ***** despite their effectiveness the opposite of what a badass, mean heavyweight champ should be doing to restore glory to the heavyweight division? Even if it was a "smart tactic" (which didn't work out as Haye was booed and deducted a point), where was his pride?
It was Dirrell-esque pandering to the referee, he was even glancing at the referee after Wlad would miss a punch and nothing else had transpired between them, as though there might have been a push involved in the exchange at some point, it ended up looking pathetic and the referee started disregarding his complaining totally which ended up backfiring on Haye with the count in round 11. Would have been a good ploy in moderation, but he got way too carried away with it in the second half of the fight. Haye did better than i expected in the fight, landed some nice right hands and he showed better punch resistance and stamina than pretty much anyone would have given him credit for, but the Dirrell tactics and post fight sour grapes soured don't reflect well on him.
Lol, who's that? Another British hype job for Wlad to waste? If so, does that mean we'll see some homosexual Chisora avatars from you soon?
Wlad barely leaned when Haye was frogging aroung like an idiot at him and did not hold excessively. All in all it was not worth any attention from the ref. The ref caved becuase of the pressure put on him before and during the fight. But then he realized Haye was faking. Haye was guilty of third rate acting. And he wants to go to Hollywood?
