......was a pretty good boxing match for HW. Wlad's conservative style of jab and keeping his distance is perfect for his height and reach while Haye as an outside boxer showed good head movement and a few nice counters but was careful not to expose his chin. I think Wlad's problem is not throwing the right hand to the body when Haye was circling to his left. Haye was not in a position to counter when moving and the bodyshots would have slowed Haye down. Like Steward was telling him, he also needed to let his hands go and throw combos but he was never a combo type fighter and against one of the more dangerous punchers out there, he was not going to change what got him there. Haye was not busy enough on the inside when he got there, IMO. He should have shoeshined and kept throwing until the ref separated them. Wlad is not good on the back foot and hugs on the inside. If Haye can at least create the impression that he was trying to KO Wlad on the inside, he could have won more rounds. I'd also have liked to see him double jab Wlad to make him throw the right hand so Haye can set up counters. All in all, other than the knees, it was a pretty good HW boxing match.
are you fuking serious? lmao this fight featured absolutely zero skill from either fighter I see more technical fights between high school aged amateurs
there have been some decent heavyweight technicians but you're right, HW division is woeful for that stuff. tonight though... lmfao that **** was on another level. I know Golota gets ragged on here but even he had more technical skill than both Haye and Wlad combined
It was a great fight considering who was in it. Name me one fight either guy was in that was more exciting in the last 5 years.
You can say haye didnt do what he said and got beat but what did wlad do wrong? he dominated him like he was supposed to, I expected more clinching though so luckily that didnt happen.
I'd agree about Golota. That guy actually knew how to move and threw decent combos when his head was on straight. Yes Wlad was moving in but if he was throwing some rights to the body and more combos like Steward was begging him to, the fight might have ended sooner. He was'nt cutting him off also, which was why Haye was able to move to the side fairly easily. That said, Wlad and Haye are probably the most skilled HWs today which is kinda sad.
