Only heavyweight champions with 10 or more consecutive title defenses. Interesting stat. I think Ali did it 2x.

That's embarrassing. The first three would absolutely punish the fourth. He doesn't belong in the conversation with the greats, but the HW scene is so awful he's getting his name beside those guys with stats like this.

BTW, David Haye is lying, scared, skill-lacking piece of **** con man. Just sayin.

louis and holmes fought a lot of bums as well, I think a lot of people are being to hard on wlad, what else is he supposed to do besides dominating this weak division, haye was the biggest threat and he defeated him, at some point you got to give the man his credit.

Very nice accomplishment, but definitely doesn't hold the same weight as it does for many other fighters in boxing history who have put together long stretches of title defenses. Not a knock on Wlad, who is effective and unbeatable in this current division, but Haye, Peter, Rahman, Brewster, Byrd, Thompson, Chagaev, Ibragimov, and Austin aren't exactly murderer's row. None of those fighters at the time Wlad fought them, or at the time anybody fought them, were special talents and fighters people will hold in high esteem for decades to come.

Joe Louis fought better ranked opponents than anyone not named Muhammad Ali. Whenever anyone makes this post it's always stunningly obvious they don't know much about the man's comp and just read a wiki on him...

This thread is a perfect example of how dumb me and boxing fans have become.

Holmes and Louis did not have some legendary run of amazing competition. I suck.

People make not like it but it's true and Wlad is no doubt one of the most dominant hw champions ever no matter what people say about the competition. How he would perform against other eras is completely subjective.

Personally, I don't think this was a great win at all but good like Chagaev/Chambers/Byrd/Iggy. But if you dominate, clean out a division and pick up enough solid wins, you can still establish a legacy. IMO, I feel Wlad's best win will always be the first Peter fight as he was the underdog and likely would have been facing retirement if he'd lost. He was supposedly a "dead man walking" and overcame adversity to win against a guy billed as the next big thing at hw. That changed everything for him.

People are undervaluing Wlad's competition a bit. Byrd, Haye, Sultan and Chag are all very credible opponents. A lot of "fans" get down on Wlad because he is "boring" but that is scientific boxing.

And lets be realistic that Holmes' competition was not much if at all better.

Damn straight they did (though no fault of their own). What does Wlad have to do to convince the butt-hurt haters?:huh

He has now beaten 7-8 other beltholders:

    Mercer
    Byrd (x2)
    Brewster
    Sultan
    Chag
    Haye
    Rahmen
Botha (I don't know if he counts, though)

    I don't know.
