How in the hell can a Heavyweight unification be so terrible.?

I never knew I could end up hating Wlad and ****ing Haye even more than I hated them before.

Haye showed me something I didn't know he had, great reflexes, the ability to time and roll jabs rudimentary combos, but then followed that up by having absolutely no boxing IQ. His whole plan was to land one shot, ****ing pathetic.

Wlad showed he is still scared shitless of pressure, the guy backed the **** up every time Haye slipped and took a step forward, like he was having ****ing flashbacks. Still he controlled distance alright, but looks like his accuracy is fading, he is getting slower. Either way, he had times when he could have pressed the action, but didn't because he was scared shitless. ****ing pathetic.

Haye and Wlad both ****ing lost. They both looked like **** for this travesty of a fight, and I can't wait till both are gone.

Pretty much sums up my exact thoughts on this "mega" fight.

In the bar I was watching it in people kept shouting at Wlad to "punch him or ****ing something then"

What a disappointing performance by both guys.

Wlad Ibragimov was a unification too.

And Haye Wlad was better than that.

They're blatantly limited fighters that lack dimensions in their games. The gaps are there and incredibly obvious at tiems. The HW can fall back to a bleak abyss, where its glamor has fallen to the wayside for big punchers who are artist at feinting and flinching. The glory days are long gone. How the hell did you score the fight 8-4 for Haye or was that a rumor? Hope you re-watched and fixed your head, seems like you did.

    Perfect assessment :good:good

The most exciting part of the night for me was the show opening when they showed quick clips of past Heavyweight Champs on my 60+ HDTV.. Tyson, Holmes, Holyfield, those guys looked amazing in HD, but then......................................................... We had that pathetic excuse of a fight... Made me want to pull out some of the old VHS tapes of real Heavyweight title fights..

Obviously Haye talked it up so he's the most disappointing for the affair. All Wlad's "Number 50 knockout" promises just shows you how dull and boring he has. That wasn't a top priority, clearly. Wlad only showed some urgency when Haye landed a shot that hurt and embarrassed him in the last round.

The great HBO intro said it all. Except the luster no longer exists.

    Couldn't agree more.
Haye outsized, outboxed but lasted the distance? Wlad has gone down even more in my estimation.
Gutted really, because nothing, and i mean nothing used to beat, big time heavyweight boxing.

He fights scared, he should have demolished Haye with relative ease.

Wlad brings out the inner punk in his opponents. They just don't feel like fighting once they're actually in there with him, and he's more than content to take the easy wins that come from that. His opposition is happy not to press things because they don't feel like pissing him off and risking getting genuinely hurt by him.

There hasn't been a heavyweight that got in guys' heads like that since Tyson at his best. He just demoralizes the hell out of them once the fight starts, and it shows because they go straight into survival mode in short order. The difference is that Tyson pressed to get rid of them, which made for much more excitement. Wlad's happy to take his time with the matter- if he goes for the kill at all.

very well said, I just watched the fight and had the impression to watch the same round 12 times in a row
    - Haye was only trying to counter and land the big money punch, which did not happen. He waited and waited and waited to land it, he did not have any plan B like going to the body, use the left hook etc. what you called ring IQ. No. it was pawing with the jab and throwing the right, that's all

    - Wladimir was his usual self, cautious, effective but repetitive, he did what he does best: Jab jab jab right

Congrats to Wladimir, the undisputed HW champion

To be fair Wlad vs Ibragimov was much worse.
