I am proud of Wlad and I think most should be.

he's a safety first fighter, what that means are most fans are not gonna like it.

 

Wlad didn't impress me tonite. Wlad looks great against fat slobs who become stationary after a few founds, but Haye didn't do that. Wlad missed several punches, and his jab looked mediocre at best. Not saying Haye was anything great, his punching form looked like **** and if Wlad was even a decent counter puncher. He would of made Haye pay for it, but he didn't.

The fight wasn't that boring, and at times I was into it. Though neither fighter showed world class skills to me, just being honest.

He still lunged into Haye after being shook. Same thing he's always done when gets hurt by a punch.

Like I said, if your impressed by Wlad's performance tonite. You must be easy to please. Wlad's usually more accurate with his punches and usually gets his man out of there before 12th. He was unable to do either in this fight.

 

I get what your saying, but also how many times did Haye throw a looping overhand right and was in a perfect position to be countered. Yet, Wlad was still unable to pull the trigger? Wlad did enough to win tonite. Nothing more, nothing less.

 

I am not a big fan of Wlad but let's face it.
Today, he is simply the best.
I don't know what would happen if Tyson , Ali etc. were active. But that doesn't mean anything. His dominance is unbelievable...

The only people Wlad impressed last night were his won hardcore fans. Wlad does what he needs to do to win but for many thats is the antithesis of what a heavyweight champion should be.

Wlad is damn effective at what he does, he has a style and strategy that works for him and he executed it perfectly and while he deserves credit for not being goaded by Haye's mind games it's hard for many fans to see the appeal in the way he fights now.

Lewis was often accused of being overly cautious, Hopkins is also accused of being boring but even these 2 boxers actually trade with an opponent when they need to. Wlad is a boxer but not a fighter, what he does in the ring is to minimise conflict and prevent a fight actually occurring it's like anti-boxing. It isn't hit and not get hit, it's not get his at all costs and if that means having to throw a real punch then do so but no more than that.

 

For the sake of the division, I would love to see Wlad retire. Heavyweight boxing is dead outside of germany, god knows it is in America. If I walked into the bar tonite and asked 10 guys who Wlad Klitschko is. My guess is maybe 2 or 3 might know. If I asked who the heavyweight champ of the world is, I doubt anyone would say Wlad. I think you would get more people naming UFC fighters than anything else.

 

One of the frustrating parts about watching the fight was Wlad's inability to counter a very open Haye. He isn't easy to hit when he is only thinking of defense, but the minute he throws or beings moving his feet defense goes out the window.

I expected Wlad to KO Haye and he fought too cautiously to do that. I don't rate Haye as a heavyweight, and i think you would find the second tier heavyweights from recent generations like Morrison, Ruddock, Mercer, Tucker etc, especially any of the ones who hit hard and could take a punch, would put his lights out or beat him decisively. In that light i don't think it is that good of a win in the grand scheme of things, its more of an achievement, unifying some belts and beating a mouthy puncher, something he needed to check off his bucket list.
