I thought they both looked like there was so much made of this fight, neither really wanted to risk it all...
Translation: I don't want to give Wlad any credit for the victory. Unless you're blind, dumb and deaf...oh wait, even a blind, dumb and deaf person can tell that Haye was running like a *****.
for the size advantage of wlad he definately fought *****, but Haye for me was just as bad...infact worse. it was a mass *****-fest. I would have rather seen haye sparked out than see the fight end that way, at least then we would have had a defining night of boxing.
Clearly Haye and Booth were convinced 1 big shot would do it and didnt wana get taken out of the game too early when that 1 shot could come in any round. (not that i ever thought 1 shot would do it, even without the toe injury) Vlad won a world title fight by winnin most rounds. Boring? yes, smart? also yes. I thought Haye would be alot more aggresive than he was but i never expected him to go toe to toe with Vlad. Vlad has shown us time, time and time again how he fights safety 1st, a very affective safety 1st. I didnt expect it to go 12, thought Haye would of gone for it once the fight was slippin away from him and get caught but this wasnt far off the tactics id of expected in this fight from both fighters. Vlad takes the centre of the ring and Haye waits for oppertunities, its just that Vlads under valued jab was alot better than team Haye expected.
I will say it again ,Vlad was there to be hit all night. Vlad pressured Gaye, stood in front of him all night long. All *** boy could do was get on his knees. Stop it britards, ******s your boy is a disgrace and noting more.
Obviously I was dissappointed with Haye's performance but, lets be fair, Wlad didn't back up anything he said he would do either. Punish Haye for 12 rounds? Hardly. Knock Haye out? He didn't even try. He didn't even look happy with his own performance during the post fight interview. I don't think Haye was much of a *****, he just wasn't big enough/good enough to catch up with Wlad. Wlad was as "safety first" as ever. He shoud have done more and I think he knew it.
In the 4 fights prior to fighting Haye, Wlad averaged 52.6 punches per round, 36.7 of them jabs(69.7%). Against Haye he averaged 42.4 punches a round with 31.3 of them being jabs (73.8%). Haye in the 4 fights prior to fighting Wlad threw 25.8 punches per round. Against Wlad he averaged 24.1 punches per round with 14.25 of them being jabs (59.1%) So based upon these stats, Haye threw only 1 or 2 punches less than normal per round, while Wlad threw 10 punches less per round than normal and a lower percentage of them were power punches than normal. So while both not exactly punching machines, especially Haye, it was Wlad who altered his style and was more passive than the norm based upon recent performances.
Haye runs, it's hard to punch while running. Look at the Valuev fight, 12 punches a round. Wlad was coming forward but it's kinda hard to let your hands go if your opponent is doing nothing but running. That Haye ran a lot in recent fights hardly makes it less damning.
