vitali, bowe ducking lennox annoys me, also I think vitali beats bowe, if vitali fought in bowe's era he would have a better record and would have fought everyone.
On the other hand bowe in this era would be champ as well.

 

It's a close one but I would take Bowe as the greater fighter. I like his top wins over Vitali's longevity.

I would also take Bowe of the first Holyfield fight to beat any version of Vitali. His offense is far superior to Vitali and I don't think Vitali's defense would be that effective against somone like Bowe.

 

Neither Vitali nor Wlad have ever been in a war and came out on top. Until then, how can we properly judge their heart?

 

I would go with Vitali due to the longevity. Bowe was a shot fighter before his 30th b-day. Vitali is 40 and still on the top.

 

Vitali woiuldnt have beat Holyfield from the first 1st or 2nd Bowe fight... VItali probably beats the not 100% Holy of the 3rd fight though.... BUt VItali takes the rest of Bowes opposition. Hed make a prime GOlota quit.

 

Vitali has the better legacy, Bowe is the better fighter.

 

This is where I struggle placing vitali. The likes of wills, jeanette, tunney, patterson, bowe are all around this mark where vitali would be placed and it's hard separating them.

Bowe beat a great fighter and vitali has yet to do that.

Infact it is fair to say vitali has lost to his best opponents.

However vitali's longevity is amazing and were it not for wlad, vitali would likely be the heavyweight champion today.

I think vitali was robbed of his best years and that will always work against him.

These two are right next to each other on my list and I have vitali one place above big daddy. His resume isn't as good but he has left a better legacy.

H2h, method of victory, skillset etc. There is very little between them I give vitali a slight edge but it can be argued either way.

I'll stick with vitali for now but it's razor close.

An old Holyfield gave a prime Lewis 2 tough fights
An old Lewis beat the **** out of Vitali

So basically, Bowe is Vitalis daddy. Somewhere down the line, Vitalis is Bowes descendant.

 

I'm a Lewis fan and not a Klitschko fan (at all), but that comment is ******ed. Possibly even mongtarded.

Lewis-Vitali was a war. Neither man beat the **** out of the other. Not even anywhere close.

 

This sums up my feelings on the subject. Resume has always and will always be the key factor in any discussion of greatness, and 2 wins over Holyfield is just so many light years ahead of wins over Corrie Sanders and Samuel Peter. Bowe proved it at a higher level, therefore he has the edge. You can have all the longevity in the world, beating the Sosnowskis and the Shannon the Cannons til you're 62, it still won't equate to the acid-tests that Bowe passed.

 

Riddick Bowe was a waster who avoided LL like the plauge!

 

The fight was a war only because Lewis was in the worse shape of his career. And still he ripped Vitali's face to shreds...

 

Bowe-Holy is an ATG trilogy. Those 3 fights alone trump Vitali's entire resume.
Bowe had his shortcomings, in and out of the ring, and Vitali can't be blamed for his era, but Bowe simply had a more noteworthy career and his accomplishments are more significant.
