"You haven't boxed" - forever the familiar calling card of the internet moron. Every single time I see this written, I know the poster is a cretin and not worth bothering with. It's the stock reply on here every time someone disagrees with someone else.

Come the 12th, i convinced my mates at the pub that Wlad would push for the final round knockout, as he did against Chambers, & to keep his promise of "David Haye will be my 50th knockout", & "I will finish him with Steelhammer in the 12th", however it sadly didn't come. I saw Wlad open the round with a ramrod jab, appearing as if he was going for the knockout, but everytime Wlad closed in to finish things, Haye would do what i call a "faux rush" in that he'd fake going for a knockout himself for a few seconds, to put Wlad off doing so to him. :verysad

And no you haven't boxed :yep Which would be ok if you knew about boxing fundamentals, but you don't. I could tell you why he couldn't make adjustments but it would go over your head as its not simplistic enough for you

 

Carnera would probably the biggest rival for the Klitschkos today. Would probably lose to Wlad but has a good chance against the aging Vitali. Actually him versus Vitali would be a very good fight I think.

 

I don't believe you have boxed :yep. I don't believe you have any idea what Haye could have done. You see, we could do this boring dance forever once you start saying I've never boxed and I start saying you've never boxed :yep, which is inevitably what happens once morons start the old "you've never boxed" chat. And FYI, there is not one approach :yep or one adjustment that Haye could've made which would have ensured victory or even improved performance, all you have is what YOU think would've done so, boxing is never so simple as there being one single magic formula, there are always a range of alternatives. Adam Booth and David Haye :yep evidently did not agree with your assessment of what adjustments would have been effective, so that in itself tells you that there was not one definitively correct answer to the questions Wladimir posed. :yep

I thought Haye's :yep tactics were all wrong from top to bottom, I wouldn't have made any adjustments, I'd have given him a completely different strategy and fightplan from the outset.

Even at age 39, he's still quite a H2H force to be reckoned with.

 

Exactly how I saw it.

Everyone's moaning about Haye's game plan and calling him a coward but what were they expecting from him!? He executed his game plan just fine, only problem is that Wlad executed his as well.

Wlad's just better physically and technically.

People are painting this as more of a Haye loss than a Wlad victory. What the **** were they expecting going into this fight?!

 

I don´t rate Vitali as high to begin with and Carnera higher than most I think - not as one of the ATGs but similar to, for example, Norton. Prime for prime Vitali beats Varnera, today it´s 50/50 IMO.

 

OK I'll stop trolling you for now but the ignorant 'he didn't show heart' pissed me off. I asked everyone here this question (not just you) 'tell us what adjustments he could have made' stating they probably didn't know because they hadn't boxed. Not got 1 response, all the people who are claiming he had no heart don't know the answer, which reinforces my statement 'you've never boxed' because they didn't know

Agreed it was the wrong gameplan, but when you think about strategies and adjustments you'll realise 2 things. The toolset needed to beat and pressure Wlad is something Haye has never showed in his career and that's why he couldn't do it, not because 'he lacked heart', play the Mormeck fight and realise he does have heart

 

You didn't expect me to get the better of your silly question and challenge, but it's nice to see you admitting this for once, as obviously Haye's whole fightplan was terrible, thereby making your question redundant (which is probably why no-one saw the point in attempting to supply the answer that you believed was the right one).

PP, just because a fighter shows heart in one fight does not mean that he shows heart in every fight, and just because a fighter has heart does not mean he shows it every time he fights. Haye fought with great, great heart against Mormeck, that is beyond question. I also believe he has heart because he has fought through being hurt numerous times, and even when he was stopped in the Thompson fight, he was still battling as best he could, he wasn't looking for a way out despite the dire situation he was in.

However, that in no way means he automatically gets credited for a spirited performance in every fight. Shane Mosley blew me away with his toughness in the Forrest and Winky fights, yet his performance against Pacquiao was absolutely shameful.

David Haye fought to not get stopped last night. I believe criticism of this approach is warranted, as it always is with any fighter, irrespective of any past performances.

Mosley didn't have the tools against Pacquaio either but guess what, both Wlad and Pacquaio were nearly as negative as Haye and Wlad. Sometimes styles don't mesh to get brawls, which suprised me with Mosley-Pacquaio. Boxing is about defense as much as offense. Mosley and Haye just didn't have the technical skill to compete

Mosley and Haye would have given themselves a greater chance of victory by having different fightplans, and fighting with greater desire and spirit. Of this there can be no doubt. They both fought to not get stopped.

 

It's a fair question, if you believe Haye should have done something different, what should he have actually done? I was saying at the time what he should have done, but he doesn't have the ability to do those things. If he didn't have heart he wouldn't be dropping his hands to try and draw leads, effectively allowing Wlad to hit him. I'll part answer the question for you Haye does not have the skillset to fight on the front foot, that doesn't mean he doesn't have heart

Mosley yes ended up fighting to survive, most fighters do Haye fought how he always fights. Haye was trying to be offensive especially early, but he was made to miss and often got countered, its tiring missing punches and most people will drop their punch output when countered, even Morales, Haye's punch output was the same as ever he just couldn't land his money punches, didn't have a Plan B or the toolset to pressure Wlad.

 

Carnera was a bum and had no skills.

Comparing him to Dr Steelhammer is an insult.
