Booth has said that there wasn't much else Haye could have done, and that the toe probably wouldn't have made much of a difference. Haye has also said: "I talk the talk and normally I walk the walk. On Saturday night I didn't walk the walk and I'm gutted about that." Haye felt his broken toe was not the decisive factor in his defeat. "It's not an excuse for the result of the fight," he said. "The result happened because he landed more punches than I did, the judges saw it that way and he won the fight on points." For those curious, Compubox stats were 509 thrown, 135 landed (26.5%) for Wladimir. 290 thrown, 72 landed (24.8%) for Haye. I think it's interesting to see that even though Haye was the "faster, slicker fighter" against the "robot", and threw less punches, that he also landed at a lower percentage. Credit Wladimir's defense, and great footwork.
Booth was the same way in the ring after the fight. Shaking hands and giving congrats to every Klitschko team member. Telling us.."wlad was amazing. so fast, much faster then we thought".... "Wlad won this fight and I have no problem with it at all"good like I said the entire time... difference of the fight...Hayes offense vs Wlads defense:good
Yep. I was impressed with two things during the fight. Haye's hand speed, and Wladimir's footwork to avoid Haye's hand speed.
If either of them had actually manned up, they would have admitted that the "broken toe" excuse was complete BS. All you have to do is watch the fight again, to see that Haye was dancing on his toes for 12 rounds with absolutely no pain. What a fricking joke.
Before the fight, there was a thread asking Haye's fans, and those who thought Haye would win, if they would give Wladimir credit if he won. Relentless, of course, said no.
Well, Booth "manned up" more than Haye....but even what Haye did admit to, it was unexpected from me...and much more than many "haters" here will admit to...so I have to give him credit for that.
I was also impressed with Haye's defence, it surprised me. He spent a large part of the fight stood in front of Wlad within his range with his hands down by his waist and his chin in the air and was able to make him miss. I think Haye's head movement definitely limited the amount of right hands that Wlad threw, hence why we didn't see a knockout. I quite enjoyed the fight as it played out more or less exactly as I expected. I think that if you bought into the hype then you was going to be disappointed. If you looked at the skills and physical attributes of each fighter objectively then you would expect a fight like the one on Saturday Wlad's defensive work was brilliant. His reflexes, control of distance and sheer physical size are so great that the moment the opponent looks set to throw he steps back and out of range, leaving his opponent missing wildly. I just wish that he would have done as Steward was telling him and make sure that when he steps back he does so with a hook. Haye was all over the place when he was diving in, but Wlad was only concerned with making sure he was out of the way of Haye's punches rather than capitalising on David's mistakes. That's where the knock out was going to come from because Haye's head movement meant he was was hard to pin down and catch with a clean shot when he was in his defensive stance. However, when he jumped in to attack Wlad he was off balance and wide open. That's just the way Wlad fights though.
i already gave waldo credit you ***git. i said he finally proved to me he's a true ATG i still believe Haye can beat any other heavyweight except for the klits.
