Think it was back in ninety, where I saw a "Morgens Palle" tournament with an African boxer, as I recall Morgens Palle probably had him as a gift from Ayub Kalule, as thanks for many good years together. He was later diagnosed with AIDS and was stripped of his boxing license. Does anyone remember what this African boxers name was? Sincerely Martin aka Flam1ngo
Not sure but I think it was Jaffa Ballagou or something like that. Kalule brought him up here and the LULE chants was deafening.
Thanks everyone! I remember that I saw the fight with my father (Iwas around 10-14 years old/ around 20 years ago) and the boxer had some incredible hard blows which resounded throughout the hall - the other guy went down in second round! It wasen't Racheed Lawal, John Odhiambho or Jaffa Ballagou. He only had one fight in Denmark before he was sent back home, because of his disease. By the way, he must have been SM or cruiser weight.
I do remember it quite well actually. I think they had some which doctor with them or something....... Damn... I'll have to think harder lol.
Think mate, think:thumbsup. I remember he had a mohawk, and looked like a bad ass mother****er:shock:.
Abdul Amidou? http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=200060&cat=boxer Here's a pic: http://www.scandinavian-boxing-rankings.dk/scandinavian-records/abdul-amadu.htm
He sure looks like a badass. It's a shame Palle stopped bringing in African fighters considering the lack a danish talent.
I think Mogens Palle pretty much quit after Brian Nielsen hoping that daughter Bettina could and would carry on, but she couldn't/wouldn't. Yeah there have been some outstanding africans in Denmark; Wasaja, Odhiambo and of course Kalule. Palle actually nearly signed Robert Wangila and John Mugabi. Would have been nice with such knock-out artists in Denmark.
Yeah, it's a shame Bettina could not keep Team Palle going. It's their own fault though, they should have treated Kessler like a king and not try to screw him over.
