If Pacquiao is an animal, Duran was a demon. Who said Duran had to box Pacquiao on the outside to outsmart him? In all likelihood, he did have the combination of footwork and punch accuracy to land a counter-right consistently and match his rhythm at range (in a stylistically distinct but tactically similar way to JMM and Morales 1), but his best bet would be to out-smart him on the inside. Pacquiao has virtually no inside game. He's restricted to mid-range fighting and simply folds when up close against an opponent. His mobility and offensive arsenal would make it competitive, but Duran was a master pressure-fighter and boxer, and would be able to tag and hurt Pacquiao more often than Pacquiao could him.

He simply has the superior defense and strategic versatiliy while having very similar physical talents.

Pacquiao doesn't fight in the inside and he's very adapt at getting out of the inside very quickly via footwork. He fights on the inside in bursts then gets out. Pac is an outside fighter and would stay on the outside all night vs. Duran easily in my opinion.

Leonard on the other hand would easily outbox Pacquiao from the outside and force Pac coming to him where he would pick him apart with his power. Even if Pac got inside on Leonard, SRL would trade with him because SRL had an iron jaw with heart.

 

Pac is no bum, he's skilled himself. He didn't just win the Fighter Of The Decade for nothing, he's this generation best. Pac fighting anybody his size right now is kind of a joke to the fans...he's that good.
