who was surpraised with haye'skills?

Considering his injury he did amazingly well. I watched the fight again and concentrated on Haye's footwork and balance issues with the injury in mind.

It's obvious to anyone with unbiased eyes that he's basically fighting one-legged for almost the entire fight, as he said he was. I know Haye said it wasn't important, but he's just trying to improve his media image and angle for the Vitali fight ASAP, and so he doesn't want to **** off the Klitschkos any further by belittling Wlad's victory.

There's a lot of people here and elsewhere crowing over his defeat and dismissing any injury claims as whining, but I ignore those people in an effort to get to the truth. The truth is that Wlad doesn't want any part of a rematch with a fully-fit Haye, especially now that Wlad's already got the belt he wanted.

 

His "skills"? He was throwing wild sloppy punches, off balance constantly, no real "plan", no real combination punching, and overall just very unimpressive. I was actually disappointed with his display because I expected him to show something unique, something noteworthy, something that would merit all the talk and hype...he showed none of that in my opinion.

 

To be honest he surprised me a lot, he doesn't have the glass chin I thought he had, I was thinking to myself "that idiot its keeping his hands down, he won't survive 4 rounds"

Skillwise he was as flawed as I expected, off balance, telegraphed punches, etc.

Of course he had great defensive skills, but he's a one handed fighter. I don't know why he forgot how to throw a left hook, but apparently that's not in his punch arsenal.

 

This "evasive" **** is pitiful... It's like saying you were impressed with Clottey's ability to block when he faced Manny, or Shane's foot speed and movement against PAC...that **** only matters if you are doing something with it.

 

I disagree. I don't think Haye had the skillset or mindset to go right after Wlad.

With that said, being evasive is a much better strategy than standing right in front of your opponent like so many other of Wladimir's opponents have done.

The problem is Haye didn't have a plan B. He used nothing but his right hand when he should have been looking for left hooks.

That's just the way it is, but being evasive wasn't what was wrong with his strategy. It prevented him from getting the **** beat outta him.

Would you suggest he absorb full on Wlad punches instead?

he showed his athleticism, reflexes, and head movement. he had no offensive skill to speak of unless you consider jumping in and out like a poor man's RJJjr and winging some often missing overhand shots

Haye threw the left hook quite often, Klychko just blocked it over and over again. Next time you watch the fight look out for that shot and see how often it's blocked.

 

I'm not saying that he definitely would have won but for his injury, but I think it would have been a lot closer. His gameplan revolved around speed and mobility - the speed was there, but the mobility was affected. But carry on hating on someone who actually showed flashes of boxing talent in the heavyweight division for a change, and then wonder why the sport is circling the drain (apart from about 5 people who make big purses). Let's all look forward to Robert Helenius defending his ABC title against Tyson Fury/David Price/Dimitrenko/Andre The Giant in a few years. Like watching ******s ****.

 

He definitely had good head movement, good chin, and decent defensive footwork, but that was about it. He and his corner put together a horrible game plane and didn't have a plan B. His plans A was to fight tall, use his speed to fight on the outside, and time a big bomb. Even when he landed the "hayemaker" he rarely trembled Klitschko. I think the game plan failed because Klitschko has decent speed himself and he is the rangier fighter so he could see Haye loading up.

Plan A should have been to use his head movement to get inside Klitschko's massive reach, corner Klitschko, get on the inside, bury his head on Klitchko's chest and throw short body punches to soften Klitschko up and then go for the head.

I applaud Haye for getting in the ring and putting 100% effort, even though it was towards a horrible game plan.

On the other hand Klitschko did what he needed to do, but I thought he should have gone after Haye more to try and end it.
