I am not interested in stating my own opinion on this match up ... I am curious to hear how the posters on this forum feel this match up would play out ... I cannot remember if there has been a recent one with these two in particular ...
I think Louis would've managed to get inside Wlad's reach and knock him out in the mid-late rounds. Louis would probably be decked once or twice.
best chance for louis (ok, he'd be heavily favoured) is to get in there early and start wearing him down. wlad has a great reach, ring generalship and uses both to full advantage. unfortunately he has no inside game other than grabbing...now, neither did ali but he was slicker with his grabbing and sturdier with his chin. when wlad lunges forward to tie louis up, his shorter, more compact punches would connect. not always full but enough to discourage wlad's grabbing. by the 4th wlad is jabbing and backing away, reluctant to grab but throwing the right to keep louis off. one such right lands for a flash knockdown, however louis is walking his man down. joe starts working his way inside those big arms, the jab now more of a push. joe's jab rocks wlad who goes back to grabbing but is punished to the body. in the 7th he's trapped against the ropes and louis drops him with a combination. he's up but louis finishes him in the 8th with a triple left hook followed by the right

As much as I appreciate Vlad and his improvement, Louis would be a very tough fight to overcome. Louis knew how to chop down the big guys but Vlad would be a danger also
Mostly these threads are only made by a Klitschko fan to pump up Klitschko or a Klitschko detractor to deflate Klitschko fans. Not much point to it, otherwise, that I can see.
You can't do this kind of match-up and expect a fair deal in the end.......... The followers who are old as the ice age will swear Louis kills everybody, while the younger class of 2011 will likely favor a modern ATG like Wlad Klitschko.... It's purely favortism.... Myself, I'm in between the old and the young... BUT! Wlad Klit with Manny Steward training him sure seems unbeatable in 2011.... MR.BILL
