Robert Helenius Might Be The Man To Emerge As The Next Best Challenge For Klitschko's

After Chambers wins a decision against Thompson, i would love to see Helenius brutally KO Thompson, it would make a statement.

Helenius is a decent prospect but at age 27 he really has to take big steps now.

The #1 issue his team has to work on are stamina and workrate. His fitness and stamina appear to a problem he allowed and old and sluggish Sam Peter to walk him down round after round. Helenius was simply to weak or lazy (or both) to throw the jab consistently.

I think he needs to build some lean muscle mass, maybe get a proper nutritionist and stamina conditioner.

If you run out of gas by mid rounds vs Wlad or Vitali you're dead meat.

 

He deserves a shot. So do Dimitrenko and Boystov. Povetkin needs Teddy Atlas to hold his hand when he crosses the street.

 

I agree. Helenius might pack a wallop and matches the Klitshcko's in strength but is lacking in skills.

 

He did KO peter after wlad did so theres nothing to say he isnt as powerfull as Klitschko but one or two fights (lyachovic then maybe Chambers/Arreola) then yeah id say hed be ready for klitschko, Helenius is my favourite Heavyweight outside the klits atm

 

Helenius packs a punch, but on the other hand, you've got to keep in mind that he found a 260lb Peter, while Wladimir fought a 240lb Peter. Big difference, imo.

 

And you have to remember that, Helenius took Peter in his 15th fight. Klitschko was already experiended fighter

You may well be right. Helenius is a title match at the earliest in 2012 if all goes well. Klitschkos may have already finished their career

 

True but its hard to find good heavyweights nowadays, Klitschko is interested in the winner of Fury/Chisora . . . Since when does the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the world call out the british Champion? especially one with 14 fights?

 

Right now, I can't see one area of the game that Helenius is better at. In truth it would probably be an easier fight than the Haye fight, because Helenius is much slower. Wlad should have no trouble hitting him at will with his speed and experience advantage. I don't think Helenius is ready for this challenge yet. I wouldn't rush him into this fight at his age and amount of fights he's had. There's no reason to. I think he needs to fight 4-6 more times and let Wlad age some. There is a chance that Helenius could be a champ and be dominate in the next few years. I really would like to see him work on conditioning and get more success under his belt before he tries it.

 

I can't see it. I think his team has the right idea by lining up Lyakhovic then Dimitrenko and it'll be interesting to see how he deals with them but I just don't think he'll ever reach the Klitschko's level.

He has power but he's also quite slow and ponderous. The fact that he was, at times, being out-worked by Sam Peter doesn't fill me with confidence.

If he ever fights Wlad, I think he'll lose handily but I think he could be in some interesting fights with guys like Dimitrenko, Boystov etc.

 

Helenius' power is superb. I covered him live against Samuel Peter, and he can definately do damage. Brewster and Peter were both anticipating distance fights against him when they went over to Germany. I also saw his trainer, give an ominous shake of his fist to Helenius before the start of the ninth round, indicating he wanted him to really throw a big punch. Then he knocked Peter out cold.

Helenius can punch, he's big, and his chin seems good. However, I'm not sold on him right now. An in shape Peter would definately have beaten him in my eyes. The KO was impressive, but Helenius was bullied around for alot of the fight. Peter was in shocking I mean SHOCKING condition for the fight. He didn't even have a trainer or cutman with him!! They kept grabbing his shorts like he couldn't breathe.

So yes, Helenius is a great prospect and he can't be blamed for the condition his opponents are in. However remember Brewster was blind, and Peter didn't have a training camp for the fight.

He needs 4-6 more fights before contention.
