what would tyson have done to the plodding joe louis? i believe that if tyson hit joe with a left hook like tony did joe aint getting up for a while. galento just didnt know how to finish louis off wheras tyson would have been on the hunt for the seek and destroy mission.

If Holyfield schooled and smothered Tyson up close what would Louis do?

If Buster Douglas downed and frustrated Tyson what would Louis do?

    etc etc

just curious as to what most answers would be. tyson could hit extremely hard and had great technique as well as louis. im just asking if tyson hit joe with that same left hook tony did would joe have been able to recover from it and come back for the win?

Those are much worse examples than shommel used, i knew this would quickly turn into another Tyson-Hating topic. Louis was clearly "Peak" in '39... if you think Tyson was at his best against Douglas & Holyfield, then pass me the crack pipe. :smoke

Joe faced more big punchers than arguably any heavy besides Ali and Tyson himself.

He got knocked down, yes, but look at what he did almost every single time he got up.

The point wasn't to hate on Tyson, put the fanboy guns down. It was to demonstrate that every great heavy has moments of vulnerability, especially against big punchers.

Tyson woulda make Louis his favorite *****.
Tua would have ended his career in their 1 fight .
Vitali would have systematically broken him down , he might have been floored once in the process , but he would have gotten up and finish the job.
Wladimir would have went 3(2):1(1) with Louis in a 4 fight series.
McCall would have went 1(1):1(0) with Louis.
    Bruno would have brutalized him.
    Liston vs Louis is 50-50

You could make a case for Tyson beating anybody by finding the worst fighter that dropped them and saying "Tyson would have finished him there".

If the real world worked like that then he would never have lost.

Champions who fight a consitently high level of opposition are going to get dropped by lesser fighters, unless they have a McCallesque chin.

Also, I would not hold up Tony Gallento as having provided the template for beating Louis. The fight was prety one sided apart from the knockdown, which might have been a fluke.

To me Robinsons head looks too big.
Just like the fake "Lee Harvey Oswald picture with the gun"

I have a ton more... I made a thread featuring all of them a while back... Not too much interest. If I remember correctly, the thread sank like a stone.

Woller: I didn't change the proportions of Robinson; and if he looks too big, I just made him that size because he'd be that much bigger than Floyd in the ring... Plus, I'm no expert, and none of my stuff is perfect.
