The idea is not far-fetched considering that Mayweather is one of the most despised boxing figures gets the most money, sells tickets, audiences, PPV's like nobody else seems that being disliked makes your more money...Makes sense if you think about it......People will always watch you hoping to see you lose, but you don't and the mean time they paid to watch you.....

    @sosolid4u09:

    interesting observation.
Since I am german I'd like to say a few things about your observation.
And before some smart arse says anything, NO I obviously can't speak for all germans, but the thing with the Klitschkos here is that many people "dislike" them because the promoters here in germany try to fool us by selling us all the fighters from the rest of europe or some other country as germans. it goes that far, that the fighters quickly recieve german citizenship and also a brand new name which makes you think they might be german. many people like me dislike that a lot because we are not fools and don't like to be treated like ones. for me it was never anything personal about the klitschkos, they actually seem to be very nice guys.
also their fights tend to be very boring, i mean they don't always manage to knock out their opponent and often you get the feeling they don't want to, instead they play it save .and that is why not everyone here in germany likes them.

before the klitschko haye fight last weekend i told my girlfriend that whatever happens, it is a win for me: either haye knocks out klitschko and gets me revenge for all the boring over hyped fights of the past and this stupid germanisation of the fighters or klitschko gives haye a pizzaface for all the crap he said. but unfortunately it came to this.... :verysad

Shocking. I thought the Germans of all people, would have liked Wlad's meticulous, methodical, step by step, by the book approach.

what are you talking about.. as far as i know klitshkos never described themselves as Germans nor did they asacquire german citizenship!

or are you trying to affect Klitschkos for nationalizing Sturm, Dimitrenko Abraham.. and all the rest of them by germans?! what have klitschkos to do with this??

regarding your other points - blame the loosers not the winner!
klitschkos step into the ring, to win like every boxer should do in the first instance, not to entertain you.

I'd say most boxing interested people in Germany back the KLitschkos, most of those I know of like their intellectual approach, that they can express themselves well, that they re fair sportsmen, that they know how to behave etc (and btw practically all germans I ve spoken with about the fight very strongly dislike loud mouthy insultive classless braggards the way Haye came across, I personally knowing the boxing scene and necessary ballyhoo before a fight created in order to sell a fight didn't mind it that much).

That doesn't mean all love them (there's a difference between liking and loving people although americans often get these terms mixed up :D) or that everything they do is accepted without any sort of criticism but they re well respected all in all. They ve always explicitly emphasized their ukrainian origin, everyone knows they re not german, yet for the way they are they re adopted by many as one of their own.

I never said that the Klitschkos described themselves as germans, I blame the promoters. Sauerland and universum promotions realised that the german boxing market is probably the 2nd biggest in the world and to gain the attention of the german audience they try to germanise all the boxers which anoys a lot of people here.

but since the klitschkos are no longer with universum promotion they promoted themselves way better but still many people here dislike them for their boring and passionless boxing style that they showed in the past.
finally i thought there was a change, i mean whenever have you seen a klitschko so pissed off at an opponent? that haye vs. klitschko interview on hbo, you could really feel the hate coming from wlad. that was very nice to see from the usually so cold klitschkos.

that is very true, those points you mention have a strong appeal over here to most people, me included. the klitschkos appear on german talk shows quite often and they are very nice guys, very sympathetic and they certainly are amazing boxers. but that doesn't mean that everyone loves them in the ring.

Many of the very few german boxing fans with at least a minimum knowledge of the sport, dislike Wlad's coutious way of fighting, but respect his skills and accomplishments.

The general audience likes Wlad more than any other boxer at the moment.

In general the german majority seems to like gentlemanlike type of personalities. Eloquent, polite and well-balanced with statements, even if this people appear a bit phony.

Wladimir has the right attributes for this.
Henry Maske had them plus he is ethnic german that's why he is still the most popular.
Sturm can express himself properly, but is too arrogant.
Abraham's german is not so good and he can't express himself good enough.
Ottke had no tv personality, but was at least liked in Magdeburg.
    Beyer was maybe too quiet
A lot of boxers, the germans see on tv, come accross as simple minded thugs, who would work as bar bouncers, if they haven't had success as pro boxers.

For them it is very hard to become popular to the general audience.

Germany although a big market is not really a boxing country. Most people that go to Klitschko fight's just like to participate in big events.
