Arreola and Hopkins are not British fighters. Joe Calzaghe is and I only mentioned him because he always struck me as a stubborn, independent cuss that states what he believes. I think he was swayed by Haye's blistering speed and power when he saw him in training and just stated his honest opinion. I also believe that Wlad shut down David Haye's offense better than anybody imagined possible. Sure, either man could have starched the other but Wlad made Haye his ***** much more certainly by comprehensively outboxing the smaller, faster man than by a quick massive K.O. Wlad proved his defensive quickness and technique and made Haye miss like a rank amateur. Also Haye had Valuev doing the chicken dance in the final round and just bounced Ruiz, Harrison and Monte Barrett off the ring apron like so many basketballs. Haye's hand and foot speed together with his heavy hands dominated those guys as badly as Wlad dominated Haye.
According to the Skye page that quoted opinions from the top British fighters Khan and Froch were picking Haye, but Calzaghe was mostly non-committal and looked like he was leaning towards Wlad. I don't remember the exact quote and surely the page is down by now.
WOW... now you are saying "haye is a blown up CW" your guy losses so you just **** on him now:yep
Yes he is an ATG. Olympic gold medal, unified heavyweight champ, almost 60 wins to only 3 losses, has never even been close to being out boxed, and one of the most talented heavyweights in history. As far as where he is on the list ...I would say top 10 right now. 9th or 10th. As his career goes on he will move into top 5 no doubt.
Yes. Great champions fight for glory, for the love of the sport, etc etc etc. They don't play it safe 100% of the time, and do the minimum required to win. Wlad had a chance to show the world that his "boring reputation" wasn't deserved, and that he had changed. He failed rather spectacularly. I'm not a Wlad hater at all, but lets' face it, his reputation is clearly lower now than before the fight.
