Lucian Bute is IMPOSSIBLE to rate on a P4P list. He KOed Edison Miranda, Libardo Andrade, and Brian Magee who are average super middleweights but are sadly the best on his record. He never fought Carl Froch or Andre Ward even Mikkel Kessler, Glen Johnson, Andre Dirrell or Jermain Taylor. He is great for sure but he never fought anyone real good. So he could be anywhere from number 1 down to 3 in super middleweight.

On the bases of the competition he has faced i'd put him outside the the top three currently.
I'd put Froch, Ward and Kessler ahead of him (in no order)

    Forget P4P.
Due to inactivity, it is impossible to rate Bute on a CONTENDER level.
    He has literally fought nobody!

Betting on Bute against an elite fighter is much like buying a lottery ticket.

His biggest wins are Andrade and Miranda. Where can anyone sane rate him compared to the rest.

Bute's going to have to prove he belongs among the elite once he begins to fight better opposition. The resume is just too thin right now.

I don't see how he gets into people's top 5 at super middle, let alone p4p top 10.

Bute is Canada's pound for pound number one. Remember I said Canada not the world or ring magazine.

Who would you have in your top 5 at SMW if Bute isn't included ?

    I could understand
    Froch
    Ward
    Kessler

    But after that ?

    Stieglitz ?
    Johnson ?

To be considered great you need to do at least 2 things. Fight someone great, and fight outside your backyard.

Bute has done neither, and who knows when he ever will.

Assuming Bute gets past Mendy, and Pavlik gets past Cunningham, the two will meet in November. It's a bit odd, but Kelly Pavlik will be the best opponent Bute has ever faced.

Bute has held a world title since October of 2007. He won the title from Berrio who picked up the vacant IBF title in a fight with Stieglitz, and lost it to Bute on his first defense. Other than that Bute has never faced a reigning world titlist much less a real world champion.

Kessler, Froch, and Pavlik are all more accomplished than Bute. Bute has a higher KO ratio than Kessler or Froch, but he has not faced the same level of competition. One could argue that Pavlik has faced better competition, but he lost to two of those guys. However, Pavlik has the exact same KO ratio as Bute in spite of the losses.

When I watch Bute fight I see a guy who looks like the real deal, but I also see a guy who has some flaws, and certainly makes his share of mistakes. If Magee had serious power, Bute may have found himself in real trouble.

Pavlik is a live under dog against Bute, and if he gets past Kelly, he'll have to face the Ward/Froch winner, and should probably fight the loser as well because "styles make fights," and Ward and Froch are stylistically very different from one another.

Bute is a bum, the guy is fighting can after can, if i was the winner of the Super Six i would never fight this guy until he fought some of the other competition from the Super Six first, this guy doesn't deserve a big payday with his resume, cowering away facing can after can while Froch and Ward fight the best.

The same ******ed threads as ever. Please next time use the search function and see that there are many threads like this. Anyway p4p lists are made by Americans for Americans boxers. Foreign boxers very rarely end up on these lists. Ward beats Bika and a middleweight on a lose streak and he ends up on the 9 place.. You see how easy US boxers end up on p4p lists?
