No, I would never misquote Joe Calzaghe to make a point in a boxing post. I heard him singing Haye's praises as I referenced in my post above. Either a British video I found on the internet or a Youtube video. I heard his voice singing Haye's praises and he sounded very serious and straighforward as he always does. The same tone of voice as when he looked straight at Bernard Hopkins and stated, "If you fight me you will lose."

 

Problem I have with Jeffries is he didn't fight that much.

I think you should get rewarded on all-time rankings because you fought more. I have the same problem with Frazier.

I have Sullivan at #19 or 20 I think. There are different reports on when he became champion and I really don't know which to go by.

 

His reign is better than Liston's and he's not so far behind Dempsey.

 

So George Foreman is not on yout ATG list because he not only couldn't drop a blown up cruiser Muhammad Ali (weighting 216) but lost to him :huh

The guys he did fight though where pretty much always the top dog. He beat the coloured champ and the world champ to unify claims. His reign is quite impressive if you compare the guys he defended against to how they were regarded at the time. With hindsight a win over johnson would have worked wonders had he fought him during his prime.

John l. Yeah reports vary so much. I read once he knocked out 200 men and defended his title 30 times. Who even knows what's fact and what's legend anymore? Drawing the colour line works against him but still for 7 years he reigned supreme whilst being a borderline alcoholic. What i've read is enough to put him up there but I won't argue too strongly because there's so much myth flying around noone really knows what's what with him.

They don't have a guy. They jump on any fighter who "might" be able to get inside and KO our MAN Wlad.

As to the OP, I have Wlad @ 6 ATG at HW. Should he continue with 10 successive defenses and unify after Vitali retires, I could easily see him at 2-3 ATG.

 

Cobra and jersey joe are my 17 and 18. I have langford just between wlad and the cobra

I'm not feeling Langford in the top 20. I did a top 30 and he was 22 or 23 I think.

I just can't justify his HW merit. P4P is a different story.

Langford and Greb are somewhat similar in my view.

 

I think thats about right, Wladimir has faced international competition, were as fighters of the past fought the guy up the road.
So I must give Wladimir more weight in ATG status....

 

I did some research into heavyweight resume's and langford's is so stacked it's unreal. Victories over jeanette, mcvey and wills are great enough as it is plus he beat a lot more guys on top. Between the losses to johnson and fulton he beat everyone he fought and that was over twelve years I believe.

I think he gets underrated as a heavyweight personally but resume's that old are completely subjective with no ranking system to go off.
