Who has the better resume, Wlad or Frazier?

    I respect the hell out of them both, only a fool wouldn't.

    Still the saying a good big man beats a good small man is there for a reason.

    I'm not saying turn frazier into wlad, i'm scaling him up.

    As I said floyd beating pac is more impressive than martinez beating pac.

    I really can't call Frazier a great fighter because I keep remembering the way he went down twice against Bonnavena and got a gift. If they fought today using the point system and not the old round system, the club fighter Bonavena would have won easy.......

    In fairness,chitownfightfan does credit Frazier with a stoppage win over Ali.So he can't be said to be biased against him.

    Come off it. Norton doesn't have a 5 year spell as top dog like wlad, frazier and larry had. He didn't even have a 4 year spell like mike had.

    As I said, the ali victory makes all the difference here.

    Wlad has slightly the better resume:

    -More contender in his list
    -More years on top (Frazier established clearly on top since 1970 until 1973)

    You can't say Frazier is better because he beat Ali. If that was the case, then the All Time Great ranking would look like this:

    1) Muhammad Ali
    2) Joe Frazier
    3) George Foreman
    4) Larry Holmes
    5) Leon Spinks

    The argument "Frazier is better because he beat Ali" would make Frazier rank above many other great fighters. This isn't right: obviously, there are fighters that are great and DIDN'T beat Muhammad Ali.

    Fraizer's victory over Ali is probably the greatest win of all time, at heavyweight. However, you can't rank Frazier above everybody else just because of that.

    So, as I said above, Wlad should rank above Frazier -slightly.

    If you list this guy for Wlad, you have to count everybody in Frazier's career.

    Summarising: Just because Frazier beat Ali (the greatest heavyweight win ever), it doesn't make him better than every other great fighter that didn't beat Ali.

    I agree with you- it's one thing to give proper weight to a great win, but sometimes people go overboard in putting so much weight on that one when a resume should be the entire body of work.

    As an example, I'll do you one better: Along with Ali-Frazier, another strong case can be made for Max Schmeling knocking out Joe Louis being the greatest heavyweight win of all time.

    How many people rank Max's resume as being the top 2 or 3 in heavyweight history? Using their logic, Schmeling ought to win out in a poll of wins resumes vs, say, Lennox Lewis because the two had similar records against the highest ranked competition they faced and Schmeling had the far superior individual win. But somehow I get the feeling their logic would become inconsistent once the voting came to that one.
