No fall out, PPV is uneconomical in the current climate.
Top level boxers need to take less, or make better fights to continue making the same (ludicrous) amount of money.

 

I think people are getting a bit uppidy about the whole "Go watch it in a pub" thing, I doubt it was said in a manner that was like "**** you, we've got your money", I think it was just a suggestion since their service might've been down or whatever. People will bash the **** out of Sky and maybe they weren't prepared or whatever but how many people were tuning in to that mother****er? That's a lot of phonecalls and a lot of business.

Khan is still not humble enough about the whole thing. He really seems obsessed by money.

 

i may be horribly generalising, but i would imagine that seeing as he is boss of sky sports, and his name is barney, that barney francis is a bloke with a bit of money, and somebody who knows a thing or two about proper business practice.

i get the impression that team khans idea of proper business practice might not exactly meet with mr francis.

Would be happy to see Khan back on Sky PPV if there prepared to put together a proper bill.

Yeah it's a case of when two worlds collide, in the sense that the Khan's - and they are not alone in boxing on this score - have no business acumen at all.

The documents that came out when allegedly and Hatton fell out were mind blowingly amateurish and I'm no legal eagle. And allegedly is probably one of the more business savvy promoters out there you'd imagine.

 

Am I right in thinking Sky's budget is pretty tight for the next year or so, hence the main reason why the new regime is pretty strict on giving away their PPV slots?

I hope Khan's team acknowledge this, and understand the position that Sky are in. Nobody likes having their salary cut, but they need to make this short-term sacrifice for the betterment of Khan's career. He's at a very crucial and exciting stage of his career, and it'll be a shame if he doesn't get the coverage he deserves.

 

Its about time Richard Schaefer got involved. Hopefully he will go in there realising that Sky do not jump to Team Khan's beat and they can sort something out.

SKY are the ones calling the shots here. Khan isn't a PPV attraction, nothing will change that other than Khan himself by his actions. Instead of complaining he should go about changing that.

 

They are fussy.

FW cards consistently produces the required numbers for what is deemed an acceptable PPV. That is why many of his cards continue to go on.

It is about proven track record. FW can approach SKY and say he has an event for X date, with the following proposed bouts for PPV. They know off previous results he can do this, so he gets the go ahead.

 

Come on, can you honestly say that if Khan signed with Fwank Rarren tomorrow a PPV slot would not suddenly open-up? As for Khan having a disagreeable character, well contrast his conduct with Degale's who has a european title-shot coming up (I know, pathetic isn't it) but what's the betting this will be a SKY PPV event......
