I see in an interview with Sports Illustrated that Wlad mentioned that Manny Steward is looking into a possible fight between Wlad and Arreola at Madison Square Garden. Anyone this that comes off this year? Also, I see that Arreola's promoter (Goosen Tudor) also promotes: James Toney, Tony Thompson, Travis Walker, "Fast" Eddie Chambers and Manuel Quezada. Since we know that Thompson vs. Chambers is happening eventually, I'm betting we see James Toney vs. Arreola, co-feature Thompson vs. Chambers. Thoughts?
I think areolla wins sat with a first round stoppage and calls out wlad. Wlad vs Arreola in Oct in the states on HBO I wanta see wlad vs all in shape and hungry Nightmare
Areolla calls out taco bell after the fight, for messing up his order. HE SAID HE WANTED COKE NOT DIET COKE!!!!
Id definitely go to that fight. I actually think a motivated, In shape Arreola can give Wlad some problems. But I think Arreola should fight a top 10 HW first, because this bum fighting till title shot BS is pissing me off. First Solis, now Arreola, and more will follow.
I could see that happening. Of the HW's they promote, Arreola already took out Quezada. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpyQ7WdfeNE[/ame] ...and Walker.... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jw89z4UEpkM[/ame] Chambers and Thompson are slated to fight for the IBF Mandatory slot: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=28182&more=1 That leaves this guy...who is still a big enough draw to bring in some fans if he faces Arreola. This content is protected Just sayin...
His defense looks so good there, no idea why the other guy is banging away so hard on his guard tiring himself out. Vitali made it look so easy to get land on him. He just about couldnt miss.
No way does Wlad fight Cris. Cris will come forward and actually make a fight out of it. That's why he got Vitali, not Wlad, last time. I've followed Cris for a few years now and never seen him look worse than in the Adamek and Quezada fights. Of course, those were two of his most seen appearances. Stylistically, he's all wrong for Wlad. Plus, Wlad doesn't fight guys who would rather go out on their shields, like Cris, than fold. Vitali will fight them, but not Wlad.
From the scene... By Edward Chaykovsky IBF/WBO/WBC/WBA heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko says there is no reason to face David Haye for a second time. Last Saturday in Hamburg, Germany, Klitschko won a twelve round decision over Haye to unify their heavyweight titles. Speaking with Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated , Klitschko said there are plenty of options out there. He says Haye is not good enough to fight with the A-level heavyweights. "There are a lot of guys out there for me to fight," Klitschko said. "Alexander Povetkin, Dereck Chisora, Denis Boytsov, Tyson Fury. I don't need David Haye now. You know, he doesn't know how to fight at this level. He doesn't understand it. I believe he was ready to give me a good fight. But he bailed out before the fight. All the talk, I think, got himself under his own skin. He's the type of fighter who fights great in the gym, but psychologically he couldn't handle it when it got real. There was too much public pressure on him." Another fight Klitschko is tempted to make is a showdown with Chris Arreola in New York's Madison Square Garden. "I checked with Emanuel [Steward], he thinks it's perfect too. Arreola has more experience, he has lost some weight. I hope we can do it in New York. I want to fight in front of that audience. When I fought [Sultan] Ibragimov and [Calvin] Brock, a lot of people came. I hope they would come out again," Wladimir said.
I hope you are right. But, this is one of those "I'll believe it when it's signed" deals for me. An in shape, motivated Arreola can give Wlad a run for his money. Or, at least make an entertaining fight. Best case scenario is an exciting HW champion emerges. Worst case: Wlad actually has to step up his game show some balls in a victory. Good thread, by the way. Thanks for sharing the interview. :good
IF Arreola was in optimal condition then yes styles wise this is a great fight. I want to see this bout so I hope it happens. But it seems a little rushed (for Arreola, ). I rank Arreola #13--he's no bum. But he's shown us virtually nothing to indicate he's on Wlad's level. Maybe Wlad wants to get the W over this potentially dangerous dude before his boxing/confidence improves.
