so you think that ali's loss to spinks, berbick and holmes count against him?

you think holyfield's losses to ruiz, byrd, toney, donald, iggy and valuev count against him?

you think holmes losses to tyson, mccall, holyfield count against him?

    you tripping dude.

tyson had awesome defensivs skills in his prime that faded as he got older

compound this with a stretch inside and i think it's fair to say he was removed from his prime in 96.

    29-4 is a terrible record?

    records when championship was won
    oliver mcall was 24-5

    mike weaver 21-9

    greg page 23-3

    frank bruno 39-4

douglas gets more grief than warranted...he was a good fighter, beat future heavyweight champions mccall, berbick, page, current champ tyson 37-0 and lost to undefeat champion tony tucker 33-0 and challenger holyfield 24-0
douglas resume is better than anyone in the 10 years....

So by your logic Tysons humiliating loss to Douglas puts him out of atg status yet Wlads even more humiliating losses to journeymen Purity, semi retired Sanders, and Brewster makes him an atg? :rofl Tyson started losing to journeymen when he was past his prime Wlad lost to journeymen AT his prime. Spinks is a much better win than anyone in Wlads resume by far. Even old Larry Holmes is better.

Douglas was 29-4, but his wins were over fighters with records like 0-30-5, 3-45-1
6-28-0. My poor old gray haired grandmother could do that....:yep

He was supposed to go down as clear cut top 5.

He ended up clear cut top 15. Not so bad.

"Not living up to the hype" isn't the same thing as "overrated."

Douglas victories from 84-90 leading up to Tyson:

    Cobb, 25-3
    Simpson, 17-0
    Page, 24-4
    Halstead, 58-6-1
    Williams, 16-1
    Berbick, 35-6-1
    McCall, 14-2
w/ 4/5 other "cupcakes" I don't list, their records combine to about .750 winning percentage as well, so, hmmmm...

    Hardly what you describe.

:patsch Green had a will to win, Bruno the first time around had a will to win, seriously none of you actually look at the facts here. Holmes had a will to win as well!

Tyson haters, spouting off bull**** as usual.

Douglass going into the fight with Tyson was a ranked contender who had already fought for a title and beaten McCall and Berbick, Purrity on the other hand was a Journeyman with nearly as many wins as losses. Sanders was a 38 yr old never was, and Brewster was a Journeyman, yet somehow by your logic Douglass was worse. Your Klit-nuthuggery as well as your overall lack of boxing knowledge has been exposed by your ridiculous statements.

Douglas looked very good against Tucker, both Tucker and Douglas looked very sharp and fast in that fight for heavyweights.

Tyson went on a crash diet to get down to that weight.
