With news off Hattons fifth retirement today, Haye's conspicuous 31 year old 'October retirement', and floyds epic 16 month retirements, just wanted to know which fighter has retired the most times?

Do you believe the main reason for an end to these retirements is the money or the love of the sport?

Holyfield "retired" a couple of times.
SRL 3 times I believe, and one of his famous opponents Camacho snr. had a couple of retirements.

lol floyds redefined the term retirement, it now means 16 month break full of court cases and geneal trouble. Funny tho that he was retired yet still many of the forums were full of his name

Just say you hate Mayweather and think that he's a piece of **** instead of this unnecessary topic because i could not see any other relevance for this thread other than to bash him

Ah...yes, but his first retirement was a forced medical problem with the eye and not a whimsical, or sabbatical type a thing.

Leonard retired after the 1976 Olympics.

He retired in 1982 with the eye injury.

He retired in 1984 after struggling with Kevin Howard.

I think he said he retired after the Hagler fight in 1987. Whatever, he was out for 20 months until the Lalonde fight.

He retired after the loss to Norris in 1991.

He finally retired for good in 1997 after the Camacho fight.

From what I remember Holmes was lured out of retirement a couple of times by good money.
