As you said: The judges wont be needed in this fight. The only relevant official is the referee and he is Bute's servant.

Hater view: The ref ensures that Mendy is not allowed to get rough and he'll protect Bute as much as he did in round 12 of the Andrade fight. That's the job description and Wright fits the bill perfectly.

Fact: The referee actually moves in the way to stop Andrade getting at Bute. Is that legal in the rule book too?

We were talking of the end of the fight. Your fact has nothing to do with that, right? Try to find facts on the subject, it will help.

Yeah it happens with 5 seconds left of the last round. Pretty sure that counts as the end of the fight, check the IBF Rules. You quilt.

As an amateur Mendy was seen as a natural talent. He KOed many guys in France (including Mormeck for example...), he collected bronze at the World and Euro CS, silver at the goodwill games etc. But he never collected gold in an international tournament and no promoter was really interested in him.
He turned pro very late and he became a clubfighter. Bute has $$$ to prepare, he is younger and more experienced : he is hugely favored to win. I read what Bute and his team said about Mendy. Mendy was told how they mocked him (waste of time, dirty boxer etc.) Mendy has completely forgotten he could have been a puncher : it's stupid to give him a chance to find the killer instinct he has always lacked imo.

I also said the referees have usually no impact at all in Bute fights. Don't forget this one. I admit it doesn't look good. If they wanted a ref who does not let dirty fighting, they could have chosen another one.

Bute is a counter puncher. The more Mendy goes at him, the faster he will go down. Mendy being mad is a good thing for Bute. Behind these words, I know Bute has trained very hard for this fight, as he does for everyone.

You made me rewatch that again...I hated watching that. I am a Bute fan, and I hate to see him get beat up like that...HOWEVER

    http://www.metatube.com/en/videos/16310/Lucian-Bute-vs-Librado-Andrade-Round-12-OCT-24-08/

If you look carefully, you'll see that the ref's back was conveniently in Librado's face during his assaults. First fast forward to the 00:30 second mark to witness how the ref buys his fighter few precious seconds, by forgetting to move out of the way and pushing the opponent off. Moving on:

00:54 why is his hand still on Librado? The fighters are separated, why are you still in his face?

Now for the good stuff: Knockdown happened on the 0:57 mark. I don't need to count. Even you don't need to count. Simply fast forward till the ref allows them to fight again. Thats 01:24

simple math: 01:24 - 00:54 = 30 seconds. That's ONE HELL OF AN 8 COUNT IF YOU ASK ME.

Obviously Bute is much better than Andrade. But 14 seconds to get is not 8, and 30 seconds altogether is quite a long while.

This unqualified idiot shouldn't ever be allowed to referee ANY fight again, let alone one involving Bute.

He's the preferred ref of Interbox, so he'll get plenty of work. :(

BTW it's the IBF that choose the ref!
