I have been a fan of Haye for years. I admit I like his style and impressed by punching power but he needs to learn how to box better. If he threw his jab more in the Wlad fight he would have busted Wlad up and set up his right hand better. If Haye continues his career he needs to get a new trainer. A trainer who can teach him the finer points of boxing in case he fights either Klit brother or top contender. What do you all think?
Youre on point, you know the higher weight classes rely on power a lot but when u fight bigger guys who have every physical advantage over you your only youre chance is the sweet science. Booths shittt game plan doesnt get talked about, enough.
Booth is very one dimensional. The hype around the Groves - DeGale fight was pretty big and I felt like switching it off come the 6th!
It was like those two ( Haye & Booth) were in a bar having a normal conversation. One thing I like about Emmanuel Steward he is open and honest with his fighters and tell them when they need to pick it up.
Agree with the game plan being ****, Haye should have switched tactics as things weren't working in the first 6 but it seems like he just wanted that one punch KO and that never works against someone as awkward Klitschko
Haye already knows how to box well , hes got good movement and a brilliant jab When he decides to use it and i believe he had one of the best straight rights when he was in the cruisers, but I agree recently all that par the body movement has gone to ****, for some reason he cant seem to throw the right without looping it and seems to lunge in with every combo
Haye needs 2 realize when things are goin 2 **** and hes losin and can see no way into the fight he has 2 take risks cuz in that fight the openings he was waitin 4 wernt appearin
haye really doesnt know how to box. his gameplan was ridiculous. he was trying to land a big punch. that was basically his gameplan. that's so ridiculous. i cant believe how stupid it is. solis boxed very well against vitali. thats how haye should have boxed.
Sometimes when a fighter has fought so much, but loses the hunger to really better themselves, I've found they can get stuck in doing things that work "most of the time". It tends not to be very adaptable though.
He knows how to, he just doesnt do it enough, he has a great jab but for some reason rarely uses it, when he did like in the 2nd round against Wlad he landed 2 beautiful jabs in a row but then just forgot about it again. He also has a great straight right but as has been mentioned he tends to loop it to much these days.
Remember the old saying "Everyone has a plan until they get hit". Booth said Haye was paralyzed form a big combo that hit him in the 5th. Then he went into survival mode and forgot everything he knew about boxing. This has nothing to do with "learning how to box".
Actually it wasn't. Originally , Haye and his camp thought that Wlad wouldn't be able to deal with Haye's speed. That he'd be blinded by the guy's speed. (which is why , David was so sure of himself)...Prior to the fight he kept saying that wlad's robotic style would be easy to deal with , that he'd be too slow. The real problem was not the gameplan , but simply that Haye's camp had no "plan B". "What if" Klitschko was faster than they thought ?..."what if" he'd be able to deal with Haye's speed ?.... But it seems like they weren't really concerned by these questions. Now that the fight is over...yeah , it looked ridiculous. But it was supposed to work. That's what he usually does anyway...against almost all his opponents... Only this time ,....this one was supposed to be "too slow"....Only he wasn't. They just underestimated him.
any time natural attributes are part of a gameplan, the ****'s ******ed. margarito's chin is always part of his gameplan and he'll pay for it dearly in the future. a boxer should train to box for 12 full rounds. anything else is ridiculous. manny pacquiao trains to box 12 rounds even though his power and speed usually overwhelm his opponents. thats why he's the best. his team prepares him for everything. haye's trainer is garbage. british trainers usually have weak gameplans. hatton was ruined because of this.
+1 Yes, he could be more active, throw more punches, move better but he wont take the risk. He could only lose in a more competetive way, but still lose.
