Correct, but Head-to-Head, prime vs prime, Bowe beats Wlad all day long. It wouldn't matter if it was at distance or close quarters, Bowe was adept at fighting inside for a Big Man. Plus, the pace he set in the first fight against Holyfield, Wlad wouldn't have been able to deal with such a pace.
Wlad would knock Bowe out. Holy hurt him, Hide hurt him and Wlad punches harder than both. Has the better jab too. Bowe would taste Wlad´s power early and get more hesitant to engage, get´s broken down and stopped mid/late rounds.
Well, I only look at these lists one way... who beats who in a head to head fight with both fighters being at their very best. With that said, I would lean toward Bowe just slightly. Bowe is one of only 3 Lineal HW Champs who were never stopped, Tunney and Marciano are the other 2. Valuev (WBA champ) and Ibragimov (WBO champ) have never been stopped either. Bowe was down a few times but was tough and had the ability to comeback in a fight. He was down vs. Holyfield and may have been stopped by a 100% Holyfield but the bottom line is that he got up and eventually stopped Holyfield. He was hit with some hard shots from Bert Cooper in the first round but stopped him in the 2nd. He was down several times vs. Golota (some by low blows some legal shots) but he always got up and he dropped Golota as well. Biggs, Coetzer, and Hide landed good shots on Bowe but didn't put him down... all were stopped by Bowe. W. Klitschko has been stopped 3 times. He has avenged one of these losses by KO. He was down 3 times vs. Peter but won by decision. He stopped Peter in their rematch. Bowe went 2-1 (1) vs. Holyfield and even the loss was close. That stat is huge. They are similar in height, reach, and weight. W. Klitschko may be a little stronger but I think Bowe punched a little harder. I also think Bowe was quicker, more accurate, and the better overall boxer. Both have good, strong jabs. Bowe by close decision... therefore Bowe ranks a little higher.
