It's Scotland vs The World in Dunky's head.

He refuses to accept the majority of us like Burns a lot.

    It doesn't suit his agenda.

It's a good point - it is very low profile considering it's an all British world title fight.

As an aside, it's a shame you can't mention Ricky Burns on here without it immediately kicking off with all the Scotland v England shite nowadays. It's especially bizarre given that pretty much everyone on here seems to like Ricky and rate him highly as a fighter. Weird eh?

People get a great kick out of antagonising a trainer of a world title holder.

To be honest, after midgit Scandanavian and Afrobum, cook isn't a bad fight for Burns.

People keep on saying its a **** division, and it is, therefore Cook isn't that bad an opponent IMO.

You can make similar criticisms of the majority of fighters at super-feather though, can't you? Granted, those two will soon be gone, but even so the remaining fighters are just plain better(from my perspective, anyways) than the majority at 130. You also have Palacios, who I forgot to mention, who is quite a decent fighter in his own right, and more proven than a lot of 130 lbs'(which is a bit of a damning indictmentt in itself), he was certainly pretty unfortunate to lose the decision against a closer to his best Sithsamerchai and even in his previous loss, which was when he was about 22 if I'm not mistaken(opponent escapes me). Overall, I don't think there's much to choose from between them, I mean, you say Garcia is merely decent, which is fair, though can you really name even a handful at super-feather that are better than him? I don't think you realistically can.

And the fact that Adrien Broner, Argenis Mendez, Eloy Perez and Luiz Cruz are already seen as worthy contenders isn't exactly a great sign either, seeing as they all have reputations that are built off of controversial victories(more than controversial, in Broner's case). Strawweight also has much more depth in prospects for me, there's a very decent amount of fighters from various nations that look promising, super-feather doesn't have the same amount, or anything nearing it I don't think, apart from the aforementioned group. And I hardly think Lefele is seen as a contender, he's been beaten by a good fighter in Takayama, other than that he's fought nobody except for somewhat touted prospects.

Domestic fights don't really hold much relevance though, do they? Not when determining the strngth of a division. I think super-fly is a very strong divsion, but I'm not going to try to support that theory by referring to Don Broadhurst and Jamie Conlon, so I don't see why the likes of Sykes need to be brought up, especially given the fact that you and I both know there are no British strawweights. Calderon-Garcia is certainly something to look forward to for me, and Rachman-Sithmorseng brought plenty of drama, as did Budler-Rubilar, despite the controversy surrounding it.

Nobody agrees with me on brit ESB?:huh

Whatever rocks your boat TFFP. You talk about me being a caricature, but at least I am always true to myself. look at what you have become, part of the clique throwing childish insults to maintain your popularity & impress your friends. So let me keep on posting my true opinions, whilst you post braveheart jokes to appeal to the lowest common denominator here to ensure you are always liked by the unsilent majority!

It is I who am crying for you TFFP, a poster who was once better than that:deal

Im not against brit ESB, its the best forum bar none(I should know, as I helped build this place from an empty forum to what it is today) & I have met many great people here, & the fact I have spent almost a decade here? Know who you are talking to here, one of the founder members of this great forum:smoke

So please, dont try to second guess me, with all due respect cos if it wasnt for the 2004 mob who got this place buzzing? You would probably be debating somewhere else.

Dunky(and Billy) not everyone is out to get you a lot of us would love to see Ricky in some decent fights but unless he steps up rapidly he is going to be regarded as just another of Frankies hype jobs.It is not (for me anyway) an anti Scottish thing I have very little confidence in how he will handle Cleverlys career or any of his fighters who reach a decent level. The fact that he has to fight outside of Scotland is indefensible and Cook has spent the last couple of years on the beach it is just not good enough and Dunky who missed seeing his hero against the best should be the one screaming for better opponents.

My pal was sparring Cokiein Tenerife a couple of weeks back. Said he felt really fresh and strong. With the dearth of talent in the division, this aint such a bad un.
