I think Bute would beat the likes of Kessler and Froch, plus to say he doesn't deserve these fights is ridiculous!
Why is it? He has two good wins to his name (Andrade II and Miranda), but other than that he hasnt fought anyone of note. Why should he be given a shot at the best in the division without fighting other top tier opposition first? Kessler, Dirrell, Johnson, **** even Pavlik. These names are missing on his resume. Yes i understand these guys have been tied up in the S6 so it's not really his fault, but it doesnt excuse the fact that should he fight the winner of the S6, he has been practically given a bye to do so. Kessler deserves to fight the winner of it. He lost his WBC belt out of the ring, and was well on his way to claiming a semi final spot before he was forced to pull out with injury. 1 big fight is all I'm asking of Bute. Kessler, Pavlik, Dirrell or Johnson. If he comes through (even if he scrapes through like Andrade I), then he can fight the winner. The Super 6 champion will owe Bute nothing.
Hey dumbass, read a news or two about Bute vs Stieglitz before open you mouth, Robert turned Bute down at least twice. He was refused by Sartison to.
Hey dumbass this thread was opened before the bute article you silly *****. Bute is a coward who wanted none of the super 6! Instead he grabs a trinket and defends omit against fringe contenders until the warriors have completed the tournie, he then seeks a payday by calling them out. Kessler will stop him once he beats steiglitz you will seem
Hey dumb-ass Bute was not invited in the super 6 , said the man who created the tournament. Once at the beginning of it and once when Bute signed the contract with Showtime. Stop embarrassing yourself.
He's sold 36,000 seats combined for fights against Brian Magee, Jesse Brinkley and Edison Miranda. Show me another super middleweight who's done that? It's not about earning the right technically. As I said earlier, who did Andre Ward beat to deserve a shot at Kessler when he was #1 in the division? That said, if the winner of the super six refused a fight with Bute and just said "get in line", it would be quite funny.
Bute would not have any strap of the super 6 guys wernt tied up fact. Froch also stated bute was invited, check his excerpts! Also a fighter didn't have to be showtime exclusively before the tournie to get invited. No fighter bar gbp is gbp exclusive to my knowledge so I don't understand the contract with showtime stuff. Anyway imo bute got beat by andrade in the first fight and kessler made easy work of him, going off that I fancy kessler to make fairly easy work of bute also. Ward would win on points and froch would stop him late.
Putting arses on seats in an arena is only part of the deal, fighters like Greenberg or Salita could put arses on seats but it doesn't make them marketable outside of the obvious....its not like they are long on sporting entertainment in that part of the world is it
Ward entered the tournie which gave him that chance tho mate. I don't understand how froch has to go in the run of all records to get a final place and bute can beat on fringe guys until ward and froch fight. Even if somehow bute beat the winner of the super6 I still wouldn't hold him in too high esteem as the tournie as fighters of all styles. I.e kessler lost to ward but beat froch etc. Bute would have to fight these guys to prove he was well rounded imo.
The World Boxing Blassic was the brainchild of sr. vice president of showtime sports, Ken Hershman, who has said in the past that Bute was "not invited to participate" in tournament without elaborating as to why. Source:Bscene (i'm not allowed to post other boxing sites links out here so google the text above for yourself) Dan Rafael : Super middleweight titlist Lucian Bute was not invited to be part of Showtime's Super Six World Boxing Classic, the six-man tournament that is down to the semifinals, but he has followed it closely. Source: http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/columns/story?columnist=rafael_dan&id=6230615 Bute, 30, fought two fights in a row on Showtime, in late 2008 and early 2009, but he was not invited to join the Super Six when Hershman put it together in July 2009. Hershman said his exclusion was nothing against Bute. He said the tournament was very difficult to put together and "the only way to get five promoters and six fighters on the same page was within the existing relationships I had. It wasn't that I didn't think [Bute and Bedard] were worthy or trustworthy. I just didn't have the depth of the relationship I had with the others." Bedard and Bute were disappointed that Showtime left him out, but that's in the past, they said. "We were surprised because Lucian was IBF champion and one of the best fighters in the division," Bedard said. "We understand the reason. The problem was all the guys we were dreaming to fight were with Showtime. But at the end of the day, Lucian is more popular without being in the Super Six because everyone was speaking about him and asking why wasn't he in." Fair do's I stand corrected. Good man for going out your way to do that On that basis I see your point, but for me he still has to at least beat kessler/dirrell? Sauerland have sorted kessler a shot the wbo si he could unify. With ward and froch fighting for the cup and wba/wbc belts it could line up kessler/bute/ward/froch as undisputed champ!!!
