In gander tasco's world body punching is commonly reffered to as hooks, uppercuts, straight rights thrown to the body. I thought that was basically the general consensus, but I guess not.

Jabs to body are usually just scoring punches, or a way to set up other punches.. There are some instances of a good stiff jab doing damage tho like that example u just gave . But throwing jabs to the body does not equate to being a good or noteworthy body puncher. Which doesn't mean Floyd isn't a good body puncher . Like I said he's good when he wants to be , but he doesn't let the shots go that often. You gotta factor in consistency if your rating or comparing.

 

Very close in my opinion. Neither are up there among the truly elite body punchers throughout history, but I have seen both hurt a fair share of guys to the body. A lot of Floyd fans underrate Manny's body attack (calling him a head hunter for instance which is completely untrue) and a lot of Manny's biggest fans underrate Floyd's body attack.

 

It's apples and oranges. Pacquaio definitely throws more to the body when we're talking about the full range of punches and not just jabs. And he mixes body shots into his combinations. Floyd can throw some good body shots when he wants to , and he usually seems to do it when he's in full control of the fight or has his guy hurt. Otherwise he doesn't take the risks. I'll take Pacquiao's body assault in the Clottey fight over anything Floyd has shown.

Pacquiao does eveything better then Floyd......according to Pacquiaos fans. Even when they admit Floyd does something better, there is a slight towards Floyd which turns it back towards favoring Pacquiao lmao.

Floyd throws the hook to the head and body, the left jab, and the right uppercut to the pit of the stomach. Pac does go to the body, but he is a head hunter first and foremost and Pacquiao hasn't been doing it as long as Floyd has career wise.

 

Thats bull****, Pac was tearing the body up early on... he just kinda overlooked for a short while, and was probably stuck a little too much in his big head power shots, and was very left hand dependant.. He wentback to his body game recently and I think its pretty easy to se see....

body punching emcompasses every shot thrown to the body, even jabs. When effectively used, ala May, they not only disrupt boxing patterns but also breathing patterns of the opposing fighter, which after several rounds will assist in tiring your opponent.

Exactly. Floyd is not a banger so he breaks his opponent down. Pac will bang to the body, but he throws combos first and foremost before tbe body shots consistently . You bang Pac to the body, he bangs you back. Floyds body attack is a part of his game plan for every fighter he faces.

This isn't a negative towards Pacquiao imo. It's how he fights....imo.
