Ok so you take someone down and you're mounted on them, can you wrap your hand around their throat and choke them? Just curious
It's within the rules, so technically, yes. It would just be nearly impossible unless you're facing someone with no ground fighting skills. If you committed to the choke with both hands, your opponent would just roll you over as you would have no base. A one handed choke is highly unlikely because your opponent would have two hands to use against your single hand. You would also have to continue to let the choke go to base out on the side you are choking with, or again, you would be easily rolled over.

I mean like wrapping your hand around the throat, not your arms. Like wrapping your hand around the wind pipe and choking someone when you're on top.

Yes you could but most MMA fighters are very good in submission or at least good at defending a choke like that one.
Lol you mean ****-choke someone? It doesn`t work, but many fighters do this when they`re on top to make it harder to breath for their opponent, Jones did this in the Shogun fight
Not trying to be a smart ass, because you may not have noticed it the op, but he was inquiring about the **** choke from the mount. The arm bar would only be possible if the person on bottom had established guard. If mounted, the choke would set the guy on top up for a sweep.
I thought it was illegal. I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere that you can't 'grab' a throat with open fingers.
It is. I don't often see people get called up on it, but "Strikes to, or grabs of the trachea" is a foul under the unified rules.
