This isn't the same Paul Williams who lost to Lara.

I've seen Paul fight better and harder. He doesn't look in shape, he's slow, and his power seems gone.

Williams is a shell. He was never anything special and always got hit way too much, but he looks like a slowed down, lethargic, less confident version of his old self.

I think he was a special fighter because of his physical attributes in the same way a Roy Jones Jr was.

But he doesn't utilitize his technical capabilities, and the sad thing is he actually has a good jab when he uses it and he actually has head movement and can throw untelegraphed punches.

But he gets lazy, he even said it. For the first minute of the first round his technique was perfect, he was fighting behind the jab and as soon as he got hit flush he reverted back to his throw 100 punches a round chin first style and he kept eating the left hand.

And it wouldn't have taken a lot to stop that punch. I've seen him avoid that punch from Martinez in the first fight, and in fights prior, but for whatever reason he is weak to two things...

    1. Timing
    2. Technical boxing.

His timing isn't there anymore. He used to be able to avoid the left hand and other punches by simply punching when they punch or before they can punch and landing first. This is how he beat Quintana and Martinez in the first fight. Now his timing is just completely gone and he hasn't improved his technique at all. He's almost 30, if he's not going to learn to use his height he should forever about a Martinez rematch and call it a career.

He needs to retire his defense is so bad. No head upper body leg movement.. nothing. No parry thinking to block a punch. He is done.

He's past his prime, but not shot.

The truth is, he was never THAT good to begin with. See the first Quitana fight as proof.

I think he is that good. You don't beat the guys he beat without being that good. You don't win multiple titles at multiple weights without being good.

So he's that good. But he needs to fix his technique. He's at the exact same place Wlad was at when Wlad got knocked out.

I'm not sure he is shot, I think Lara is not the type of guy he should be fighting. PW needs to fight a guy who is more one dimensional, like K9 Bundridge.

Just got done watching this, wow, what a robbery.

On topic, Williams isn't shot, he just sucks. Thats what Williams has always been. I've been saying this for quite some time. Hes been getting hit with those shots his whole career, the problems have just become more glaring as he fights bigger hitters.
