Seriously, the man is telling another fighter he should retire at 29 because of the punishment he took tonight? Has he not seen his own last 7 years of fighting. Dude was just straight knocked out cold in Russia and he thinks he still should fight.

Couldn't even pay attention to the fight because I could believe my ears.

    What a fool

He's only lost three in a row :p He's as bad, possibly worse in his blind obstinance, as Lewis. We don't need a former champ commentator, HBO. Really. They took punches for a living, now they should sit at home.

Tarver is a legit commentator. Though he tends to be a bit biased at times

Tarver's better than most of the fighter-commentators, though I'd prefer a professional commentator. I feel sorry for kids just now getting in to the sport who feel they're learning how to analyze boxing from RJJ's commentary.

HBO has really sank to a new low. they commentating, the recent cards just horrible.
They have every big hype job and look the other way when hayman or whoever has judges in their pocket. Jermain Taylor was the beginning of the end.

Roy would retire if he wasn't broke. He only fights because he has to

What is wrong with you? Are you telling me you'd rather have that ***** Max Kellerman or that old **** who just won't die, commentating a boxing match? They have no clue what they are talking about and are annoying as **** with their interviews. I wish these idiots would go away, and Jim Gray.

Jim Lampley is about the only PROFESSIONAL (LAUGH OUT LOUD) commentator I can really stand to listen to. Give me Roy Jones Jr. or Tarver anyday.

Ok Foreman and Lewis weren't all that great, but Tarver and Jones have charisma and understanding of boxing. That's what boxing commentators should have, but they obviously don't.

I think Tarver is by far the best commentator in boxing right now. the only "professional" commentator who comes close is Al Bernstein.

    RJJ was fine tonight.

It amazes me how the guy can be broke!

Roy Jones for me(and i'm VERY biased) is a top 20 ATG i can't get enough of the guys career set he was head and shoulders above anyone in the sport in the 90's

RJJ's the best commentator on HBO, shaking my head at anyone preferring 'professional commentators' who know nothing about the sport

If anyone knows about these things, it's Roy. he knows the situation, and fighters like McClellan who payed the price. It's tough sport and a tough decision to walk away from boxing. Roy was barely touched in his early career though, while Paul is in a brawl and taking punches in almost all his fights. Roy was concerned about PW because PW is still in his 20's but has been in some vicious fights, and in this fight, he was taking a sustained beating over 12 rounds..

Roy is in a point of his career thought where he needs to listen to his own advice, and not put himself at risk anymore. Someone at HBO should've had the courage to ask him how he feels about his own career right now.
