Which of the current big 5 UFC champions is furthest ahead of the chasing pack?

In terms of opposition fought and beat , comprehensively , id have to pick St Pierre .

That said , i do see Jon Jones as the single most dominating fighter in the whole of MMA P4P , and looking at the way he demolished Shogun he would be in there for me .

Then there is Silva who has had ups and downs as a champion , ups (Franklin 1 & 2 , Henderson , Belfort , Griffin , Irvin , Leben , Lutter) downs (Lates , Maia , Sonnen , Cote) so while he's looked to be completely on another level to some top tier fighters , he's had a bit of trouble looking anything but ordinary against others , IMHO i think were looking at Silva coming to the end of a legendary career .

In summary , every one of the champions are the champion for a reason , and it cant be argued that any one of them do not deserve there title (Edgar Maynard should be put to bed soon) .

Anderson Silva is head and shoulders above the rest in his division

 

I would have to go with GSP. The welterweight division is stacked, and GSP has gone through almost everyone of significance. GSP rarely gives up a round against some of the best fighters in the sport.

 

Well heavyweight is close

Light heavy is historically stacked and nobody has been an estblished dominant champ there lateley most guys going one an done

At Middle Silva i think is clearly ahead though he is getting older

At Welter St Pierre has beaten several of the guys in the list of contenders already and hasnt shown a hiccup in his game or a sign of slowing down

Light well Edgar isnt much ahead of Maynard if he wins and wins big maybe, but if its another good fight they should have a score settling 4th unless Maynard wins

 

Silva over GSP due to finishes. also Silva is so much better that he clowns with his opponents and still destroys them. The sonnen fight he was injured and Sonnen was on PEDS so means very little (still submitted him of course). GSP hasnt walked through any of his recent opponents the way silva has. He has to be focussed and technical to beat his opponents, silva doesnt.

Silva over Jones because Jones simply hasnt proven himself yet but i see a good chance of him being a future dominant champ.

 

Also people give fighters like stann okami etc basicalyl no chance against Silva. But people think that diaz, condit etc. have a chance (however small depending on your oppinion).

 

But you cant forget that he wasnt fighting injury free and chael was on juice.
He has finished most of his fights

Silva is undefeated since coming in the ufc. Very close between silva and gsp but i gotta give it to silva.

 

I rank Anderson as my #1 p4p, and the number of finishes over GSP is the main reason. Was it you, around the time I began to notice you as a regular in the mma section, that I had a discussion with regarding this issue? I believe you questioned my decision to rank Anderson above GSP. Not that is matters all that much. I change my mind quite often. I was just curious if you remember whether or not it was you I had that discussion with.

I thought your poll question was regarding a different issue. I was stating that I believe GSP out performs tougher competition by a wide margin, giving him a larger gap between contender and champion than anyone else on the list. Anderson is my #2 guy in that regard.

 

Edgar could lose hsi title cause of the challengers (Guida, Guillard and Maynard) and cause of Melendez. Anderson Silvas only loss in Pride was to a submission maybe Jacare could win? And Velasquez will probably lose his title to Dos Santos or the winner of the HW-grand prix. I dont think St Pierre loses against Diaz or anyone at 170. Same for Aldo and Cruz
