Now this would be an epic battle. Hopefully this can happen at 135 lbs in 2012. Rios is a better version of Katsidis and Kat gave Marquez problems. I would expect Marquez to stop Rios late, he's got the boxing ability and can go into the trenches, Rios lacks genuine world class boxing skills imo but is still a fantastic up and coming fighter, wouldn't be suprised if JMM get's knocked down on route and both men i feel would be hurt multiple times. Have to consider what the Pac fight will take out of Marquez though. Marquez TKO 10-12 Thoughts? :good
Giving Marquez is on the slide and specially after the beating Pac is gona put on him (really do hope i'm wrong bout that tho) i think this could be a close thrilling fight, Marquez's sharper and more accurate punches imo will win him the fight in a hard fought battle on PTS, more even a cuts stoppage
Exactly my thoughts. Marquez would almost certainly go down at one point. But thats just standard for dinamita. I just think his accurate punches will beat rios up all during the fight. Plus we know hell be able to go to war with rios when he needs to so he wont be bullied. Like you said well see whats left of him after Pac v2.0 has his go with him. Late TKO or close on points with Marquez taking the later rounds but losing a point or 2 for kds
I actually think Katsidis is more relentless and harder to keep at bay. That doesn't mean I favour Kat over Rios because I wouldn't, but I think he'd be far easier for Marquez to deal with.
But i think he has less one punch power than rios which means the shots he did land against the technically superior fighter would have more meaning to them.. i think its a very intruiging match up. Its just a matter of time before marquez starts showing the wear and tear of all his battles
I think Kat's a pretty fair puncher. I don't think Rios is a one hit wonder type guy either. Not that much in them, not enough for me to be overly concerned by. I do think Katsidis is harder to keep away though, unless you have a very consistent jab like Guerrero had. Marquez isn't that consistent with his jab now, he's looking for counterpunching opportunities and Katsidis's style of charging inside very quickly rushed him. Rios is a lot more methodical than Katsidis is my point, and I don't neccessarily think thats good for him against Marquez. It would be good for him in certain fights.
kats is very much an accumulation puncher. Not that Rios is some one punch ko sort of lad but i think he has the ability to cause alot more damage with one punch. Agree with the rest of the post. His heart and guts are good against better technical fighters with less heart. But you can hardly doubt marquez in that department.
It would be JMM-Diaz 1 all over again imo. Rios having early success before Juan times him and stops him late
I see this thread on the General and couldn't believe the responses I saw. 'Rios would knock him out in 5' and ' JMM has major problems against come forward fighters' and **** like that. A lot of people have got carries away IMO. don't get me wrong, I really like Rios, but I think JMM stops him late. This would be a major step up for him, and while JMM can be hurt, he will have too much for this kid. It also makes me laugh when people say Marquez has major trouble with come forward fighters, and then sight Kats and Diaz. Did these fighters not get knocked out late on. You trade with Marquez at your peril. But who knows what JMM will have left by the time Pac finishes with him (although I actually think he will do a lot better than people think).
Vano, Rios fought last night and looked impressive. That'll always get him the pick on the General. Marquez could fight next week, win and then they'd all pick JMM.
