Are there any words to express my frustration for the outcome of this fight? YES, MANY. This is the perfect example of why boxing is dying as a sport because of all the crooks and thieves involved in boxing who don't give a crap about a fighter's career as all they care is about the money that goes into their pockets. Lara fought a perfect fight, he beat Williams in every single department and at the end was slapped in the face for doing so. The Cuban boxers are very used to these highway robberies as all of them have gone through very similar situations in the Olympics and World Amateur Championships. I can just look back and remember the countless of times that the Cubans were robbed at gun point and were robbed of their Gold medals in the amateurs.:twisted::twisted: This is why in this Country a foreign boxer has to win by TKO/KO and not decision. Last night, Lara was probably thinking that he was schooling Williams ( and he was ), but the crooked judges had other plans. Even Williams was astonished when he heard that he won! :nut If I was Paul Williams, I would act like a true gentleman and grab the mike and tell the judges outloud, " No, I am sorry but I didn't win this fight, Lara won ". That's being a true man and a true sportsman but who does that in these days? Shameful, disgraceful, crooked, dirty and plain horrible was that scoring!!! :fire:fire:fire On the other hand, Lara proved that he is the real deal and that he is ready for anyone. Lara's stock has risen instead of falling, 98% of fans know that he was robbed at " gun point " and that he gave Williams a boxing clinic " Cuban style ". :bbb Rematch or not, Lara will be coming back stronger than ever and will be World Champion. These robberies have to be dealt with and stopped in boxing once and for all, the goverment should step in or whoever else has the power to stop this bullcrap from happening again. They should watch that fight again and reverse that crooked decision, Lara was the victor handsdown!!! :|
Didnt see the whole fight. But from what I saw, the other guy was a bit sharper, but Williams was much busier and was working alot harder. Is that what the judges were looking at.?
No, the judges were looking at the corona's girls in between rounds. i think they were already in Tony Soprano's payroll and the fate of Lara was decided before the fight started.
You can be busier and work hard but if you face is getting smashed in the process and your punches are not landing, them you are supposed to lose the fight it is that simple.
Of course it was a robbery, the fight was so clearly for Lara, no point for a rematch. Its ridiculous after what happened to Lucas Mattysse and now this too Lara. USA is worse than Germany.
Does Dwyer ever just come out and say "I was wrong. I picked X but Y is clearly the better fight and fought the better fight."
boxing will always be around but last night was hard to watch. everyone is talking about the decision of course but i was more troubled that no one stopped the fight to protect williams. the announcers are even making the point that williams could be seriously hurt but there's never any adults around in the pro boxing game. the ref, corner and commission just stood there and watched.
I felt the same thing yesterday. I almost threw up in my mouth and for .01 seconds I contemplated never watching boxing again. But then I said, I'll just put up with this again just like we always do....
No, i'm not asking what is the worst robbery ever. I'm asking if this was the worst robbery you ever witnessed yourself. Also, i just want to give big kudos to the HBO broadcast team who for not holding back their honest thoughts. Roy Jones was clearly shaken up before leaving the air. And i'm so glad he brought up the fact that George Peterson is hurting Williams and can't help him anymore. Williams needs to retire or get a new trainer. Also, if you voted no, please specify the fight.
did everybody forget about Campillo Shumenov II from last year? that was an even bigger one sided ass whooping
