How can boxing decisions be improved?

    My idea would be get the judges in front of the TV cameras to explain why they gave so n so the nod, if they knew they had to do that every live show it might make em improve a bit.

    I see it the same slip. Thats what I mean, theres a giant circlejerk between the promoters, certain judges and even the organizations. It's very difficult to overturn something that is beneficial to them no matter how immoral.

    In America, in the absence of a National Boxing Commision, its down to the state Athletic Commissions to sort this out.

    What ****s me off the most is that there is no accountability for shoddy scoring.

    How about, not only do the individual judges have to clarify their scorecard, but whoever appoints them to a fight has to justify their selection should the cards be woefully inaccurate? That means not only the judges are responsible, but also the people who appoint them. If a judge scores 3 fights badly a year, they are suspended for 12 months, as are the people who appointed them to the fights in the first place. Those who are not skilled enough to score a boxing match get suspended, and those who give them the power must also be held accountable. If I was at work and suggested someone be put in a higher position of power and they turn out to be ****, I'd get in trouble as well.

    This does kind of remind me of the 'should we have same day weigh in' and 'How can we improve boxing' threads where we all talk about having 1 belt and less weight divisions in that no matter how much we rant on here you just know absolutely **** all will ever happen ;)

    More emphasis on 'drawn rounds' for sure. If you can't split them don't look for a reason to do so, don't remember one decent punch landing and give them the round.

    There's definitely a case for the judges of big fights to be watching it via tv link.

    Fair enough but I've seen plenty (PLENTY) of fights where it's been almost impossible to score rounds. Sure, one fighter might have edged it statistically, but from a judges' point of view I'm sure they're guessing. 10:10 for me.

    Thats why you're a bad judge...

    I'm suspicious of a card as soon as I see more than one 10-10 round.

    Yeah it is ultimately pointless. But i just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas on how the system could be changed for the better. The current system clearly is open to misuse, but it's been in existence for so long, it's hard to change it. Even if a change is made, it's likely bad decisions would still be occurring in the sport.

    I'm not THAT bad a judge! Or at least I don't think I am.

    Fancy comparing cards for this coming Saturday's fights? I'm not arguing as such, I'm interested, but I certainly don't see anything wrong with a few 10:10 rounds if it's close.

    I have the odd card with 2 drawn rounds in. I can't remember ever scoring 3 in a fight.
