In relation to the argument that Tysons era was worse than todays. Ive paired up Tysons opposition against the Klits. This is NOT a Tyson vs VK/WK thread. Its matching up their opponents. Ive tried to pair them off and explain the reasons why i paired them together. Razor Ruddock vs Sam Peters - The hardest hitting fighters that they fought. Frank Bruno vs Shannon Briggs - Both big guys, both that can punch but have no stamina Larry Holmes vs Ray Mercer - The old man Tyson beat, vs the old man WK beat. (Or you can replace Mercer, with old man Lewis, although the VK didnt beat Lewis) Evander Holyfield vs David Haye - Two former cruiserweights. (I know Tyson lost to Holyfield, but i couldnt think of anyone else to pair Haye with) Michael Spinks vs Tomas Adamek - Two former Lightheavys Buster Douglas vs Corrie Sanders (or Purrity or Brewster) - No need for description Tony Tubbs vs Eddie Chambers - Two fat out of shape guys with fast hands. Tyrell Biggs vs Chris Arreola - Both guys were rushed into title fights IMO. Tony Tucker vs Sultan Ibragimov - The guy Tyson beat to unfiy the belts vs the guy Wlad beat Trevor Berbick vs Chris Byrd - Both guys been around and fought the best James Smith vs Kevin Johnson - Both guys came and spoilt the fight. Pinklon Thomas vs Ray Austin - Battle of the jabs IMO, Tysons era was head and shoulders above the Klits. Tyson also beat most of them in much more devastating fashion than the Klits, despite his size disadvantage. Even the guys Tyson lost to are better than the guys the Klits lost to. If i missed anyone out, its because i didnt know who to pair them with Who would win, and who ruled over the better era Your thoughts?

Pinklon Thomas vs Ray Austin - Battle of the jabs I think if you switched them up a bit you may get Klits opponents winning a few more, Haye would beat a few of the 80s guys, you also missed Chagaev (who was past it imo), Sanders, Brewster, Brock, Kirk Johnson, Danny Williams for the Klits and Ribalta, Williams for Tyson and you could throw in a few of Tyson's second career wins like Golota, Seldon
I could be here forever if i mixed them up! I tried to pair them and explain the reasons why I didnt miss Sanders/Brewster, i put them vs Douglas. Ribalta Vs Danny Williams....i dont think anybody would give a dam about this fight. Yeah i know i missed a few names, i tried to pair them best i could back to the matter at hand...who do u think fought the better opposition?
I think Chris Areola beats Tyrell Biggs. Too tough and heavy-handed. Biggs was lucky to get past David Bey.
Unforgiven, this is meant to be the morbidly obese, 251lb Arreola who challenged Vitali in '09... Maybe the lighter, current chubby Arreola beats Biggs, but remember a Past-Prime Biggs showed he was quite good in his fight with Bowe in '91.
Biggs barely got past Bey, who was never the leanest fittest cat out there either. Biggs lost to Damiani and Mason too, before he fought Bowe in '91. Arreola would pummel Biggs, IMO. Biggs had some nice moves, but he got hit too much and dragged into wars all the time by these slower, plodding heavyweights. Arreola would give him a painful beating.
What do you think about Arreola against Damiani & Mason? I reckon Gary Mason would beat him in a tough slugfest war. :!:
I fancy both their chances better than Biggs'. Mason-Arreola might be a 50-50 fight, similar heavy-handed durable fighters but Mason had better technique but also the slower hands. Would be a slug fest for sure. Damiani had the skill to outbox Arreola - Arreola has the better strength and power - I'd make Damiani a slight favourite here.
If your a Tyson fan or hate the K-Brothers, you are going to lean towards the 80s guys and pretend they are all prime(ignore stuff like Thomas' shoulder injury). A Klitschko fan will overstate the shortcomings of the 80s contenders and lean towards their opposition. Realistically, I'm not betting on any of these except Holmes/Mercer. I would hate to see 96 Evander trying to chase Haye around the ring, I would favor the Real Deal because he actually throws punches but god, that would be ugly and close on the cards. Most of these fights would suck. Sultan/Tucker...ugh, probably a draw of suck. The crippled retired "I just want to look after my daughter" Spinks who fought Tyson isn't fighting or beating ****. Adamek couldn't produce enough cash to even lure this guy into the ring.
Bey would probably beat Arreola. I dont think Arreola is a shoe in to beat Biggs. Arreola was badly wobbled against Ahunuya this weekend and hasnt looked any better than Biggs ever did. At least Biggs could move.
I know your fond of Tyson's opposition and I'm sorry if I offended you, but these are some godawful pick em match ups. This is not a knock on Wlad, VItali, or Tyson. You really think 96 Holyfield is going to do something magical against Haye? Ugh. Now Holyfield would mess up a come forward fighter like Peter for sure. But Haye running, slipping, and ducking all night, popping right hand leads once a round would have Evander and anyone watching this **** frustrated. NO, Azzer I don't agree, especially if you are combining Wlad and Vitali's careers together.
