Hell if I know. Top 7 are set in stone for me, but after them there about about 20 - 25 guys who all have solid arguments to be in the top 15.

    1. Pacquiao
    2. Mayweather
    3. Martinez
    4. Donaire
    5. JM Marquez
    6. W Klitschko
    7. Ward
    8. Bradley
    9. Hopkins
    10. Froch
    11. Bute
    12. Joyi
    13. Segura
    14. Khan
    15. Gamboa

Also guys who could easily be in the mix from 8 - 15 include R. Gonzalez, R. Guerrero, Mares, Agbeko, Pong, Cazares, Nishioka, John, Adamek, Vitali, Soto, Kessler, Cotto. I wouldn't complain too much if I saw any of those guys in the back end of a top 15.

I think it's really hard to justify more than a few spots between Wlad and Vitali

same here.. i just know that Wlad has been more active and has fought better names than Vitali as of late... plus Vitali is like 40.. so that makes me rank him higher than Vitali but Vitali should still be top ten to me.

Why? Wlad's recent resume is about 10 times better than Vitali's. Over the last five years:

    Wlad:
Haye (consensus #3 and reigning titlist)
Chagaev (consensus #3 and reigning titlist)
Ibragimov (consensus top 5 and reigning titlist)
    Chambers (consensus top 5)
    Brock (Ring top 10)
    Thompson (Ring top 10)
    Peter (Ring top 10)

    Vitali:
Peter (Ring top 5 and reigning titlist)
    Arreola (Ring top 10)
    Gomez (Ring top 10, barely)
    Solis (Ring top 10, barely)

Whether or not you think Vitali might be the better fighter, Wlad has faced and beaten much better competition than Wlad recently. Go back a year further and you add Wlad's wins over Byrd (who was ranked #1 at the time) and Peter (who was top 10 but undefeated at the time). I'm not sure Vitali has beaten a fighter on the level of Chagaev or Ibragimov his entire career, to be honest with you.

Skills-wise, he's probably one of the top 5 or so fighters in the sport right now. Damn shame he's been so inactive though, and that there really isn't anyone good left for him to face at 105. He has the frame to move all the way to flyweight or super flyweight if he wants to, though.

when creating these lists, how far back in time are you taking into consideration a fighters body of work?

I think I count things farther in the past more than a lot of people. Both have been dominant, Wlad with the better comp but the greater vulnerability; Vitali also loses fewer rounds than Wlad. I also rate Solis pretty highly although the fight didn't have anything resembling a satisfying end.

Vitali has far better losses. He didnt lose to such fighters like Purity, Sander and Brewster. Also he wasnt floored 3 times in a fight like Wlad against Peter. And he was competetive (winning clearly on points) against an ATG. Wlad hasnt fought anyone on similar level to Lewis.

I mean, I normally domn't go too too far... like the last three years but in instances like Chris John.. he is undefeated.... so you need proof of him being "elite"/ deserving the spot because so many undefeated fighters are undefeated because they fought tomato cans..... like Berto..... but in John's case he beat JMM in 06 plus Juarez, so you know he's talented and after being undefeated for so long.. you figure he's good because of talent and not hype.... I feel Vitali is the same way... you know he's good and hard to beat... he's previous resume and his fight with Lennox kinda solidify why he should be considered top ten.. IMO

I completely forgot about John. He should be at the end of my list but it would be nice if fought someone again.
