“The fighter loses more than his pride in the fight; he loses part of his future. He's a step closer to the slum he came from.”

-shot erik morales fighting on with one eye for 11 rounds vs the hardest puncher at 140, maidana and nearly beating him.
    - cotto fighting on for 9 rounds with a huge cut over his eye to win vs clottey
    - marquez coming back vs pacquiao with 3kd's in round 1 and blood coming from his nose.
    - ortiz almost getting stopped vs berto inr ound 6 but at the last few seconds knocks him down and shows heart by getting the win.
    - khan showing his toughness vs maidana by surviving on heart when he almost got stopped in round 10.
    - corales ko'ing castillo
    - danny williams fighting on and winning with a dislocated shoulder
    - 45 year old bernard hopkins getting dropped twice vs pascal and trailing on the cards in montreal yet coming back to school the younger pascal.
    - yuri foreman fighting on vs cotto while he tore his knee up, cant move and doesnnt have the punchers chance.
    - even audley harrison trailing on the scorecards by a huge margin vs sprott than knocking him the **** out in the final seconds.
    - maidana getting dropped 3 times vs ortiz yet forcing him to quit, also getting dropped by a monster liver shot vs khan and losing many rounds yet almsot knocking him out.
    - carl froch losing vs jermain taylor yet in the final minute forcing a stoppage surviving in the s6.

todays boxers have heart as well.

Actually a loss nowadays ****s up more of your market value than it did in the past.

Fighters fought more often before, and as a result had more losses in general.

They got paid less in general, so naturally they were closer to the ghetto.

Look today we have a fighter claiming that his pinky toe was the excuse as to why he lost his unification bout ..Back in the day you had to be bed ridden in order not to be able to fight ..Fighters of the past were cut from diffrent cloths todays fighters are cut from silk !

There were probably pansy primadonnas in the past just like today. Haye isn't representative of today's boxers.

No matter what the era is, most fighters get paid squat. The guys on HBO and Showtime are an extremely small minority, and even them often aren't getting paid much and are only getting that rare nice payday.
