I thought billy used his phone or summat not a p.c, bad call from me and i apologise for my comment on that behalf. Billy I know John is a better fighter than Choi, obviously you do to. But at the moment the division needs a fight like this and John will earn some good coin for doing so too. Help to make it happen Billy ;)

    Such bull**** spoken on here.

    1) Choi's last win wasn't a good win. :bart Fair enough, Asiku's was coming off a loss (his only one in 5 years) to that bum Jhonny Gonzalez.
    2) Spencer trying to live off Billy Nelson's name. :bart How many people outside this and boxrec forum know who Billy Nelson is? And I don't mean those who describe him as that fat guy in Ricky Burns' corner.
    3) No one knows who Choi is. :bart Who do you think is more memorable to the average fan. A normal-looking guy with generic British style or one who produced most dramatic knockout of prospect (other than Khan) in last 5 years, walks through punches like they're palm leaves and comes into the ring in Mongolian hat,.

Maybe, just maybe, Billy is a tad scared his boy is gonna get eaten alive by the lil Mongolian! Seriously, I don't see a problem with it. Every boxer wants to make as much money as they can before retirement. If Simpson is gonna be paid handsomely, make the fight!

I agree with what your saying steve, but you know roughly what domestic title fights are worth as i do,choi v john would be a good fight but i know thers only one winner and thats john and yes it would be better than fighting a african with 9 fights but in all honesty john doesnt get many gimmes does he?He's got to be the most unlucky active boxer in the UK just now imo,WHY?:huh

But Ricky makes up for that :hey

Seriously tho, it'll be a good fight. Simpson would take the money, and its perfectly winnable.

I know how hard John's fights have been - I reckon i've done more to raise his profile on the Setanta show and the BBC London show than the company that screens his fights!
If I said 100 grand then, I can assure you, that was his end of a purse bid. If I was wrong this is how it goes...kid hears that he is getting 100 grand but ends up with 16, complains to manager, manager tells him don't be stupid, manager goes crazy and threatens me...it has happened to me. I've been banned by one promoter and heard from the solicitors of four others!

    Adios.

Whatever anyone thinks of Simpson nobody can deny that he is one hard little hombre...He's been on the end of a couple of shitty decisions in the past and his record doesn't really reflect his ability. I think that he is just too controlled, too good for Choi whose abilities over the years have taken on mythical status on here

couple of thoughts - various people have been looking down their nose at spencer - the way he tries to promote himself, the lack of big name fighters, the lack of t.v. coverage etc.
i suppose the $64,000 question for simpson is 'am i better off fighting choi, headlining a sell out crowd at the York Hall, for the decent money that spencer is allegedly willing to pay, or do I fight some afro-bum on asky sports under card?'
imho spencer might have something going here - as I've said before his promotions are always good value for money featuring lads ,who, whilst they might not be top drawer fighters, have some ability and who also sell tickets. it makes for a damn good night, far better than paying £100+ to watch fights from 200 metres away surrounded by pissed up casuals who don't even bother watching the boxing.
no doubt as spencer's reputation increases he'll end up getting slightly better quality fighters and so his shows improve even more - what's the old saying - 'slowly, slowly, catchy ******'?
you can see it happening already - couple of years ago his promtions didn't even feature title fights - now he's putting on title fights at the lower end of the scale ; continue as he is doing and in a couple of years it'll be better quality title fights and a t.v. company will see an opportunity.
more power to his elbow i say.spencer may not be everyone's cup of tea but imho he's a force for good in uk boxing.
can i have my free tickets now please, mr. Fearon? :hey :good
