Note: I didn't notice a point in which VK appeared injured, but i'd not denying he might've been. HBO Punchstat: Landed. Vitali: 132, Byrd: 124 Thrown. Vitali: 502, Byrd: 284 Percentage. Vitali: 26%, Byrd: 44%
It is amazing how Vitalis fans chalk up both the Lewis and Byrd fights as wins for Vitali even though he got stopped in both.
That ain't even the question. Of course he won. In case you didn't notice the argument revolves around whether or not Byrd or Lewis would have won had the fight continued.
If the Byrd-fight continued, i predict Vitali wins one more round, & Byrd wins two more rounds, so on my scorecard it would be a Draw. If the Lewis-fight continued, i predict Lewis to stops Vitali via KO or TKO in rounds 7 or 8.
end thread. byrd toughed it out, vitali didn't. look at byrd getting blasted against wlad, vitali wouldn't take a beating like that.
Somehow I doubt Byrd won 4 of the last 5 rounds clean. The three judges at ringside disagree with you. The injury was reported as early as round three, and confirmed with needed surgery after the fight. So taking the fight on less than two weeks notice Vitali was beating a prime level Chris Byrd with one good working arm. No one doubts what would have happened in a re-match or if the injury had not occurred.
You pathetic nuthugger. So Vitali took it on two weeks notice? Listen nuthugger, Vitali was training to fight Razor Ruddock. Vitali had a full training camp. Chris Byrd was not training at all and took the fight on 7 days notice so how the **** can you claim Vitali was the one at a disadvantage when it was clearly the complete opposite? Oh that's right, because you are a disgraceful nuthugger who denies what you see with your own eyes.
For some reason vitali fans always seem a bit supremist in their complete refusal to accept he struggled at times in his career
I actually like and greatly respect both fighters. For the record, I had Vitali winning comfortably, but it doesn't matter because.. he lost. I give Byrd full credit for standing in there and never giving up, because things like this can happen. I also give Maxim full credit for defeating SRR by much the same logic. Now, would I have picked either victor to win a rematch? No, but that is all hypothetical and does not detract from the actual.
Buddy McGirt went into the fight with Sweet Pea with a torn rotator cuff, he gave Whitaker a very hard fight.
Like most people who seen the fight I appreciate just how competitive it was. At best vitali was 1 up after 9. Given the flow of the fight byrd was almost certainly going to sweep the final 3 rounds taking a hard earned 7-5 victory. Maybe a 10-8 round if it kept going like the 9th.
oooooooh Power Puncher is so much tougher than Vitali. This guy is close to my Hegrant, Nay_Sayer...etc "I'm not putting you on ignore, but I'm not really reading anything you have to say anymore" list unless I'm dying for some amusement.
Again, Byrd won the fight. I have no problem with that. I would not pick Byrd to win a rematch, but that is immaterial. But are we really questioning this guy's toughness? This content is protected
To be honest, I am questioning the double standards of his chief arse licker Mendoza who finds it perfectly acceptable for Vitali, 8 inches taller and 28years old, nearly 40lbs heavier to quit ,yet calls Jack Johnson a coward for retiring in a fight when he was 48years old.
