Floyd did a good job and I think he won it, but it did have him flustered a little. Another thing is that the wrong person can't pull off. A lesser fighter doesn't want Floyd leading off on him. Since Floyd was injured and Castillo was much bigger he had success with it.

So theory is an elite counter puncher could trouble him, but he did lead and do a very well job on Mitchell, Judah, Mosley ect. since then.

Some people said Marquez was/is an elite counter-puncher

But Marquez was leading most of the fight, and you have to be an elite counter puncher that can make Floyd weary enough when you punch, but I think Floyd has progressed so much since the Castillo fight, that this strategy may not be good anymore

I would tell somebody like Pac if I was in his corner (I'm sure Roach already has this in mind) to not worry entirely about the head when he's leaning away and trying to shoulder roll. When you cut him off, hit the arms, body, shoulder, anywhere that's open ...crack it.

As a southpaw there is no changing strategy. Just don’t let yourself get gassed like Judah. In his high guard Floyd can’t see to counter. Watch his fight with Shane when he is in his high guard. He drops his left when he is getting ready to throw the counter right. Its right hook roll under all over again. Dart in right throw a combination and anticipate the counter. When the left hand drops throw the right hook and then spin him.

Floyd sets up with punch though. He either pulls over your jab with his right hand, or he'll feint you enough or keep occupied with the jab downstairs, but comes up with the right hand up stairs

Castillo only lead the 6+7 rounds when Floyd was content to just back peddle and take punches.

takes an incredible amount of stamina and willingness to get constantly punched in the face to execute this plan.:-(

I wasn't really talking about him not being able to see, but you may be right about that. I was just saying the his opponent may not be able to anticipate his straight right, but you do make an interesting point about it when he has a high guard. I'll look at it again and see if I notice it

Disagree, Mitchell, Zab, Hatton, and Mosley all got the worst AZZ beatings Floyd has handed out in recent years compared to his victims he shoulder rolled often against.
