JMM is going to have trouble taking advantage of the spots Divac due to his age , and fighting out of his natural weight class. One thing JMM had at featherweight that doesnt get mentioned is handspeed. He wasn't as quick as pac but he still had pretty fast hands, and he had the quickness to take advantage of those moments where Pac threw himself off balance. Now he has to deal with old age and not being able to get his punches off as quick as he used to. On top of that he's fighting a bigger, stronger and better version of Pacquiao that doesn't throw himself off balance all the time and gives JMM those same opportunities. Don't be naive enough to believe Freddie Roach / Pac are going to make the same mistakes for the third time against Marquez.

 

If Marquez finishes the fight, it could be close I think. He's still the more technically skilled fighter of the two. While Pac is the better athlete.

Yup. We'll have to wait and see. Marquez is an ATG fighter. Age and weight are obvious setbacks for him in the fight with Manny. But, I would not be surprised if this fight is Manny's most competitive since moving up to WW. The thinking game alone is gonna be levels above what he's dealt with, since his last fight with Marquez in 2008. The physical part of the game will favor Manny (as it always has) where this match up is concerned.

But, I'm interested in seeing how Marquez performs in his tune-up bout.
