all English officials for Burns-Cook, no parity

To me it's not right having 3 judges from the same country officiating especially as it's for a world title!!!! Not that it will make much difference as Burns will stop Cook late on for me.

How in the blue hell Terry O'Connor is still a judge is beyond me and most other boxing fans, his scorecards are ridiculous especially the card he surrendered for Simpson/Smith recently, the guy is a joke and has no place in a british title scene never mind a world title fight.

This is a decent domestic fight. 3 English judges are about right for this though it would have been better to see at least one of the other British nations represented. I think the appointment of the English officials says everything about the legitimacy of the contest.

Hope Burns wins. Prefer Jocks over southerners.

 

Rumours he was bad on it though.......3 years away from the ring.......1 fight against al hamidi, hes not gonna be able to hack burns, no way.

in his prime he was beat by martinez, 2 years later after all that time out of the ring, hes not coming back and beating burns.

Never said Cook would win or its an even fight. Just that Burns isnt smashing Cook up in 4 rounds. He has never been that kind of fighter and he is not a huge puncher. If Lareya can survive 7 rounds and quit on his stool, not get KO'd Cook can go the distance even at this point.

Burns has stopped 5 guys in under 6 rounds his whole career. none of them had winning records. his KO percentage is 25% and 95% if his fights have been agaisnt Journeyman.

 

Is it just me who doesn’t find it too hard to score fights? Unless you’ve got an agenda before you even switch it on, I just don’t see how you can **** up something like Williams-Lara. Nationality shouldn’t even come into it.

But a world title with three domestic judges? That pretty much sums up what a dreadful fight this is. It’s a British title fight with a bauble to go with it.

 

That explains why I recent polls why a higher % of English want Scotland to be independent than Scots want.

Before the Al Hamidi fight, his last fight was him defending the same belt. Doesnt matter how much time passed or whatever, fact is ****** made the fight to put the "England v Scotland, champ against ex champ" spin on things. What with Cookie winning it from Alex Arthur as well.

Not that I think this will make a difference but surely it would have been commonsense to have just let Victor Loughlin be 1 of the judges? He's surely going to be at the Echo on Saturday?

By doing this, if it's even remotely close, the WBO will have caused themselves unnecesasary hassle
