Suddenly Povetkin shows interest in fighting Wlad. How come?

yup...he saw millions of bucks to be made....

 

He watched how Wlad was not going to risk making it a fight..... so worse comes to worse they can just simply give Wlad movement and Wlad wont do **** to stop it

If you re-watch the haye fight, Wlad was not that impressive.
Haye constatnly managed to slip his jab and get himself into offensive position but for whatever reason was gunshy and didnt take advantage. Just look at Wlads face after the fight, for the first time in quite a while he was marked up pretty bad.

Now Povetkin defiently isnt as fast as Haye and will defeintly have to eat a fair few jabs to get in but he likes to throw punches which is something Haye could and should have done.

Mmmmm... I suppose Haye risked making it a fight? One guy moved forward and threw 500 punches. Another guy ran backwards and threw himself on the floor whenever his opponent got too close. Yeah, you're right. Vlad won't do **** to Povetkin. Good one.

 

The Povetkin management just might be cashing the guy out. I would. I think he is susceptible to a loss to lots of guys, if he is not 100%. If he comes in at 80%, he could drop a decision and drop way down the ladder. At 100%, he is no meteor rising either.Might as well cash him out & take a big payday while the money is there.

I think the guy is similar to Tyrell Biggs. He has an amateur pedigree but has not developed to any near the degree hoped as a pro. A lot of time and money has been invested in this guy. Best to get some return on the investment and start the rebuilding project with some different management taking the new risk.

 

In fairness, Teddy called off the fight not Povetkin.
Povetkin said very little about it after the fact. I would assume that he was annoyed with Teddy's decision.

 

Maybe he finally remembered he could be a pretty damn good fighter in his own right and realized how much closer he was to that before he brought Teddy Atlas in. Maybe he wants to put out a better impression of himself so people don't ridicule him for his recent level of competition, which was quite a step down considering how tough he was matched up earlier in his career. Or maybe he's tired of people talking like he's a punk for not having fought Wlad. Maybe he sees something he thinks he can exploit.

Regardless of the exact reasoning, I'm glad he's found his own voice again and is pushing for the fight. But I do think Povetkin angling for the fight now has more to do with his own internal reasons moreso than any perceived weakness he sees in Wlad.

 

Yes that and I think he's been working on the best possible plan to fight Wlad's size and style. What else has he been doing all this time, studying the tomato can's he's been fighting.....? LOL

He HAS to have been concentrating on what to do against Wlad, ever since Atlas deemed him not ready........just yet. Maybe now, he feels its now or never and that he's got a workable plan together.

I am not sure if I think he'll have much of a chance or not, but let's hope this fight gets made.

i would hope Wlad would take Povetkin over Chisora, but you never know. Maybe Wlad will take a somewhat easy, stay busy fight with Chisora, then Povetkin.

 

He's getting tired of $25,000 fights.
