He definitely won't be facing Martinez any time soon, thats for sure and as much as people would like to see him fight the Ginger kid, I doubt that'll happen..at least for a long time. Alvarez is in a pretty good division and doesn't look like he's moving up soon..and theres NO way Jr would move down.

Let me put it in this term......if Martinez is a 10 right now, Chavez fought a 6 in Zbik......He needs to take on a 7 in his next fight, and scale on one notch at a time.

You dont go from the best you've ever done is fighting a 6, and then jump all the way up to fight a 10.

Only morons will criticize a fighter like Chavez for declining to move up 3 or 4 notches to fight a 10.

Thats the thing .....when there was one champion per weight division, you could'nt get away with not fighting real contenders.
Nowdays, there are more weight divisions and multiple world champions in each division that so called champions can get away for years without fighting a real dangerous contender.

Thats just what boxing has become, but dont come in here and pretend and make it seem like its only Chavez getting preferential treatment when boxing is full of fighters holding world titles hostage.
....its the name of the game nowdays, which is why being a world champion does'nt hold the same value it once did.

 

I agree with a previous poster, he needs to fight someone on roughly the same level as Zbik. Then fight Martinez and lose his 0 like a man.
