Re: Wharton v Fidel. I was banned by Duff at time, but I scored it for Fidel. I also tipped against Wharton in the Daily Telegraph in his big fights and was almost alone on each occasion. Nobody gave Reid a chance, trust me. Duff and his press was a very comfy little relationship - being banned for four years by him was the best thing to happen.

    Adios.

Too right, people bang about ******, but he has nothing on the monopoly of Duff, Levine and Astaire. Indeed Frank was at the forefront of bring it down and opening up the sport in this country.

As you kind to allude to, if you made an enemy of Duff in the 70s/80s, you life would not be easy as a British Boxing journalist.

And what did you have against Henry, he seemed a nice fella.;)

I figured Benn and Eubank would beat him, but Wharton would make the fights closer than they actually were.

As for Reid, I was amongst those who thought Wharton was going to win, Reid looked pretty ordinary against that little South African, and Wharton looked on top form going into their fight...

The 'unique' personality of Michael Katsidis.

For example: "WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT!!!! WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT!!!!!!!"

The fact that Michael Katsidis exists is a great thing.

Any George Foreman commentary is good. He rarely understood what was happening in the fight, but I'll always love him for the painful silence when Hopkins finally flattened Trinidad in the 12th. "Just wait till Hopkins feels Trinidad's power!"

    Yeah… about that, George…

In terms of ability, he's around about the top 5 Pound for Pound. The guy's an immense talent, shame he's always so inactive.
