Only you and a few others only seem to have a problem with what he said. Perhaps your requirements for what constitutes showing humility are off base here.
Makes me feel kind of bad for Wlad but Lennox is right. Wlad fights scared which decreases his versatility and effectiveness.
Yeah, maybe I'm just getting old. Good manners, mutual respect when earned and keeping oneself humble were the order of the day back in the day. But, Lennox was a hell of a fighter, just a dominant force in the heavyweight division.
he was just saying "nuff respect" like it was a greeting cos he fancied himself as a bit of a rasta. he wasn't literally gauging the respect level of everyone he met. do you think paul williams is literally asking if you know what he's saying at the end of every sentence?
Saying he'd KO wlad is NOT a sign of disrespect FFS. Make a mountain out of a molehill if you must, but MOST people are in agreeement with Lewis anyway. I dount anyone but hardcoreK bro fans are whining about this as much as you are.
I honestly never thought of that. It was "nuff respect" when i think back on it. I know he was born in Jamaica, then grew up as a kid in England, then moved to Canada as a teenager where he fought for and won the heavyweight gold medal against Riddick Bowe. Then he moved back to Britain to pursue his pro career. So, "nuff respect" is a rasta greeting? Who's that rasta dude who won the lightweight title from Ray Mancini? Don't remember him ever using that greeting but thanks for the info. I like to learn about Lennox's amazing career and never knew he fancied himself a rasta.
Now, I remember, the rastafarian that twice defeated Ray boom boom Mancini was Livingston Bramble. He got in some trouble I recall as his religion involves inhaling some rope object during religious ceremonies. Ring magazine had an article discussing Livingston and his religious beliefs. He also was heavily into pitbulls. I had no idea Lennox Lewis would ever be influenced by that particular religion. One learns something everyday.
Vitali is the better fighter, he has things Wlad don't have, better timing, better chin, he is much tougher, far tougher.
Many past champions have been asked the same question, Most all of them have acted as sportman and just not answered. But Lewis will live with the cowards brand after the Vitali fight. So I guess if it make him feel better, more power too him...
An old Lewis made a pizza face of the tougher brother. In his prime he would have dominated them both, knocking Wlad out in the process. Lewis is considered a top 10 HW great, maybe even top 5. Wlad is top 20, top 15 at BEST!
